What optics are you running on your higher end black rifles?

Burris XTR line on my personal guns. Duty guns have always been Eotech or Aimpoint and I'd take the Burris LPVO over a red dot/magnifier combo any day.

If I have money, I'll get the Primary Arms PLX 1-8x24 or the newer gen the Compact version. Shot my friend's Primary Arms PLX 1-8x24 and was very surprised by how crisp the lens is and even at max magnification there was barely noticeable distortion.

I like eotechs and a qd magnifier (that I usually end up not even running, just kept on hand). Just the fastest in my opinion, with really no learning curve when you hand it to other shooters and that nice big window is money

This is what currently sits atop of my black rifles

Rifle #1: Eotech Exps3 & G33 magnifier (TAN)
Rifle #2: Aimpoint Comp M4
Rifle #3: Vortex Razor HD Gen2 1-6 (Geissele Mount)
Rifle #3: Another Eotech Exps3 & G33 magnifier (BLACK)
Rifle #4: Aimpoint H1 scalarworks mount (2moa)
Rifle #5: Bushnell Elite Tactical SMRS 1-8.5/ Aimpoint T1 (I alternate between these 2 based on the configuration of the rifle)
Rifle #6: Sig Romeo 4A

How do you find the Bushy 1-8.5 compares to the Razor g2 1-6? I have the same Bushy 1-8.5 and have always liked it but holy crap does my Razor g3 1-10 ever blow it out of the water. Never been behind a 1-6 so kinda curious.

I truly enjoy both optics and I think both are built to very high standard. However, I think the clarity of the Razor and the style of illumination makes it a clear winner over the SMRS. Both are great though and this is truly picking fly sh!t from pepper. LOL

Thanks for that. Yeah, I always liked the SMRS but wanted a brighter reticle and a dot instead of horseshoe reticle. The Razor gen 3 glass is just so much better than my SMRS though and I far prefer the dot at 1x (to the horseshoe) and the reticle when zoomed in (the horseshoe on the SMRS makes for pretty "indistinct" wind holds until you get a few mils out). My only preference on the SMRS is the locking elevation. With the quality of the glass on the Razor gen 3, you can easily stretch it out there and it would be nicer to be able to dial instead of holding over (I'm not exactly gonna pull off the cap for any kinda practical shooting).

+1 for the combat sights with fixed, low power magnification; Elcan and ACOG make some great ones.

I have no experience with the Sig or Primary Arms prisms, I am assuming their quality is similar to the Vortex Spitfire or the Burris AR332. I've heard that some of the budget prism optics from various manufacturers are literally made by the same factory. It seems plausible, given how close the form factor is between models.

Steiner and Hensoldt each make fixed power combat sights too, I looked into them while shopping around. The price points seem to fall between the ACOG and budget offerings.

My best prism optic has to be the Kahles k4i, it's just pure clarity and the eye relief is very generous

I've tried a few LPVOs, to include the OG Trijicon 1-4X, the Elcan Spectre DR 1/4X, Spectre 1.5/6X, Bushnell AR 1-4x, Bushnell 1-6.5X SMTP, Trijicon 1-8X, Swampfox 1-10X, and most recently the Eotech VUDU !-10X. The "evolving" reticle employed by the Eotech is revolutionary in the field of LPVOs. It starts out as a large, bold Circle-Dot which gives way as you zoom past 7X power, to become a Precision-style "Christmas Tree" reticle at 10X. Very cool! And at right around $2K, the Eotech glass is top-notch indeed.

My trusted Aimpoint PRO and EOtech 552. I used both at work and on the weekends at the range. There is better, lighter, etc but toughness wise, these 2 can’t be beaten.
