I don't have a 586/686 S&W but I know they are very good quality and accurate. I own a GP100. Double action on my Ruger isn't horrible & single action is quite nice, but, doesn't compare to my tuned Smith. Back when I could see better & had time to shoot more, it wasn't difficult to hit the Field Pistol silhouette targets (chickens @ 25yd, pigs @ 50, turkeys @ 75 & rams @ 100) standing freehand. Nowadays, I'm lucky to hit a B-27 target at 25 :>}
