What rimfire discipline do you prefer ? Benchrest, NRL22, PRS, ETC

CMP Rimfire Sporter (kind of a variation on the previously mentioned 3P).
NRL22 (would love to do longer distances but the club I shoot at only goes out to 200)
Silhouette (I describe it as plinking pop cans off a fence but waaaay harder)

Bullseye / Precision Pistol, lately I have been using a walther GSP quite a step up from my mk ii, shot at 50yds slow fire and 25yd timed and rapid.

I've heard of lots and lots of shooting disciplines, but the ones that your friends do, that are shot at your club, or at other ranges that will welcome you are the best if you want someone to play with, coach you, watch, and all that team/social stuff. Otherwise you're shooting alone, which is relaxing some of the time too.

I love shooting alone almost more than I like being social with people in the same discipline. When I'm alone at the range, nothing more relaxing and zen. Feel so refreshed after!

Exactly! that's why I went to range Thursday morning sitting there for about 2-3 hours consuming 200-300 rounds before heading home. Nothing beat solitary in this game.

Shooting a group like shown on #27 is like getting a hole in one in golf.
When I got mine, the comment was "Aren't you glad you didn't take a sick day?"
The other shooters at the range yesterday was pretty excited about the group so it as nice having someone to brag to!

I like ringing steel. Both offhand at silhouette, a simple game which can take years to hit half the targets. Or PRS, a very complex game where most newbies can hit most on their first day.
I don't do much solitary lead slinging nor do I waste ammo chasing tiny groups.

3 position 50 meter match rifle , and 100 prone , both with irons and scope shooting is what I do with a .22.
I shoot alone in this , as no one else in my club shoots a .22 without a scope and a bench rest.
i have shot a little ELR but don't really like it much.
This winter I plan to do a lot more 18 meter indoors 3 position as well.

I'm primarily Benchrest, 50 & 100M But, occasionally stretch out to 200 just to see, lol.
Below is a sample of 5 - 5 shot groups at 50M with my M37 Custom and Eley Match EPS

50 m pistol (free pistol) 50 mm 10 ring at 50 m with a single shot .22, no optics, no supports, one-handed.
Standard Pistol (.22 at 25 m, 150 seconds, 20 seconds 10 seconds)
Rapid Fire Pistol (.22 at 25 m, 5 targets in 8 seconds, 6 seconds, or 4 seconds)
NRA 2700 rimfire stage - 50 yards and 25 yards - 90 scoring shots at various timings.

I've started shooting rimfire PRS matches this year, and am really liking it. I shot 8 local matches this year, from freezing in the winter to cooking in the summer, and had lots of fun. I figured it would be a good way to improve my shooting skills in general, and I think I've avoided the temptation of joining the gear race. I'm shooting a cheap rifle that I made a more target style stock for, and a couple homemade bags and rests along with a knockoff Harris bipod. I started out happy to shoot 50% of the winners score, and the last couple matches I ended up around 75-80%. For most of my matches I used what was left of a case of CCI standard I bought 10+ years ago, but now I'm using better (more expensive) ammo, and I did buy a decent scope and rings. I'm pretty spoiled, I live 10 min from a range that hosts rimfire shoots out to over 400m.

Any silhouette shooters in Ontario? I've got a full - set of rimfire silhouette steel targets but it seems that Ontario is not as active in silhouette as the West is.
