I cannot comment on the two products you mention. You'll have to try them out with other rings to see. Do you have a pair of cheapo aluminum rings to measure with?
My experience with hunting scopes was to choose tops that had four top-down screws. For a carrying rifle, aluminum was best. But steel is preferred for strength and rigidity. Of course, those benefits come with a pricetag.
Have you heard of the Sask' Provincial Rifle Association's 1200yd range in Nokomis? It has measured firing points at 300, 5, 6, 8,9,1000, 1100 and 1200. You'll be able to do some true long range tests there. They have a FB page which is better than their website.
