What"s with all the picture hunters on the Exchange!!!

So put up some good pics and this won't happen. Anyone with an ad up without good pics is doing this to themselves if you ask me.

Some of the ads I have seen make me feel like the seller doesn't even want to sell. Crappy pics that show nothing of use, or no pics at all, and crappy descriptions to boot.

Looking at your Browning Ad why only one pic? Why if you had the camera out was that the only pic you took? Makes me feel there is something to hide...

I am new here, but I am a knife collector and have been screwed before because I didn't ask enough questions or ask for better pictures.

The only real difference here is the Trader Rating system which should settle peoples nerves.

There's the disconnect.

It's just a quick click. A picture is worth a thousand words. No pictures? See ya.

I Agree..... Best to post pics..... And I won't buy anything sight unseen......

That being said, you have been here for 7 years and have a 0 trader rating..... So it doesn't look like you make many purchases regardless of picture included or not....

I'm ok with being asked for certain pictures if I say shot 100 times and they want a close up of something. I don't have much of a trader rating but I got so pissed off being asked for a picture of me with my user name and the item with a cup on my head or something like that.

One guy on here got a little upset at me because he was asking for a lot of pictures like that and it would take me some time to do as I was not always with the item, and someone came up and paid for it before I sent the other pictures he wanted (after I had already sent a bunch)

I have had that happen as well..... Simply told the guy that asking for pictures does not out the rifle on hold for him and it was his indecisiveness that cost him the rifle.......

Have had a couple hunting rifles for sale on the exchange. One is a Browning A-bolt in 270 and the other a Rem 700 in 280. I posted both with pictures and both are reasonably priced at $600 shipped. Some must think this is a life time investment as to the request I am getting for pictures. Can you send me a picture of the Muzzle, the bolt, the bolt face, a close up of the finish, a higher res picture of this. It goes on and on. Maybe I'm missing something but I just don't get it. I understand wanting to see the item before you but but at this price the actions are almost worth it. Then you do the leg work and never hear from the person again. And whats with the questions about round count in hunting rifle!

Thanks for listening.

Your A-Bolt ad has one photo (that I could see) and it's not particularly good. Take multiple photos from multiple angles and post them to the thread. You can't fault people who want quality photos of particular parts of a rifle. Crown, Bolt Face, Finish...these are all important items to document and, frankly, they are things that a buy would want to look at if they were examining the firearm in person. I don't think that asking for more photos, especially given the very reasonable price of the A-Bolt, is out of line.

I'mma butt person.
Send me sum............ Laugh2

Here you go buddy. Let me know if you want more.

In my opinion there's nothing wrong with someone asking for more pictures of an item that can often contain wear or scratches that cannot always be described in words. These are usually guns we're talking about. Pictures should be mandatory. I always try to take pics at multiple angles to show the potential buyers. In many cases those that show one picture are either extremely lazy or have something to hide. Nothing more frustrating than seeing an ad of interest to find no pictures and then have to ask the seller. This creates more work for the seller as they have to respond to multiple people who may be window shoppers.

It's a piece of cake to post pics in your ads.

Better than sending pics to all who inquire.

Load them on here once and you're done.

I can't see why one would rather spend time emailing pics when you can do it once.

It is quick if you are familiar with the process. Create sign in with photo sharing site, upload pictures to that site, grab the image link - one at a time and add one image at a time. Not quite like copy and paste.

I have seen some good ads where two or three images was posted and a link to an online gallery of lots of pictures of that gun. I betcha that poster did not get any emails asking for more pictures.

As stated before take lots of pictures when you are at it and keep them handy or load them in a linked gallery.

Thanks for the input guys. Guess I was having a bad day. Perhaps this is not my best post on the exchange. However if the buyer were to look at my trader rating this is hardly the first firearm I have sold.

If you posted more or better pictures in the first place you wouldn't have as many people asking.

I can't see how it can be any easier sending photos out to every person asking. Upload them once and then you only get the relevant PMs. Seems simple to me.

Extra pictures of the bolt, muzzle, etc are acceptable. A damaged crown on an otherwise good condition rifle means gunsmithing which is something I would want to know going into the purchase.

We all have em.

Some people have a firm "trust no one" policy. Some days I think I should too....

I completely agree having been very well burned three times, this after finding the issues after posting good feedback.
After that I will never buy another firearm in a private sale on the EE, hands on or not at all..

I dont think you can post here without including pictures.....and decent ones.

I have bought a couple guns I should have paid more for, or been beaten too ahead of when I got them, because sellers didnt have photos or good ones.

If it is something current manufacture, BNIB, then suggest I visit the website of the manufacturer, otherwise expect a photo request, and just because I do does not imply we guaranteed to deal.

I have made many purchases from Elwood Epps over the years and one thing I found out is if you ask them for pictures be prepared for a photo album..
The last rifle from there was preceded by no less than eight pictures from all angles, Thank-you Elwood Epps !

Oh,wait,I didn't know I needed a "trader rating",especially when that has Z-E-R-O to do with the point being debated. I don't need a "trader rating" to use common sense.

Not at all. But how do you spend 7 years on the largest online used firearms site in Canada and not buy anything? You some kind of monk?

I have had the same experience with Prophet River. I have more comfort buying used from a reputable business than a private person I don't know.
