That's what I got on my ar-15, shot out to 500m with it, fairly happy with quality but not reticle for my application. My other scope is a tangent theta about 8x the price of the sightron and im quite happy with the quality.

Still dont know what scope to get
iv figured the highest i could go is $400 but would rather stick around $300. Im looking for the best value of glass. But i also believe in miracles and wish to find something that could also serve decently enough to plink out to 600, 800, maybe even 1000 yards.
Whats the best bang for your buck guys?

Paw and I don't do the 1000 yard thing though paw used to hunt mountain sheep in Wyoming many years ago.
We've never seen a product like the Leupold "Rifleman" series of scopes that offers so much scope for the money for normal big game hunting which I consider 25 - 500 yards.
Sure a $4000 schmidt & bender is going to be a superior product but for $400 or less you can't go wrong with a Leupold "Rifleman".
*side note: While unloading the truck just outside the town of New Liskeard, Ontario my scope got busted in an accident in the fall of 2005 so I went into the local crappy tire and bought a Bushnell "Trophy" scope to use for the hunt. It turned out to be a pretty decent scope and cost around $150. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I thought it deserved honorable mention.

Buy used. Do some research and learn how to evaluate a used scope. You can get a used high quality European scope or a Leupold for about 1/3 the new cost just so long as you only care about the glass and not the cosmetics.
Surprised that Burris Fullfield 2 hasn't come up. Clearer than vx-1, nice reticle, adjustable objective and turrets that work. I have found no need for higher priced scopes (have had vx-3, Sightron Bigsky, Viper HS) for shooting out to 600 yds.

I'm a big Leupold fan, but if dollars are tight, I have found Vortex and Nikko Sterling (middle to higher end line) as solid and feature packed choices.
I would keep an eye out for a Leupold Mk AR or a fixed power SWFA Super Sniper scope at that price point you mentioned. i have both and they work great. My 10X SS costed me $550 shipped to the door after the exchange rate and duty. 3-9 Mark Ar scopes will run close to the same price new. Both these scopes have matching turrets/reticles. Mil/mil or Moa/moa makes life easier when shooting long range.
No nead to read any other responses.... the 10X Bushy is the bang for the buck scope, it tracks better, and has better optical quality then anything in the price range.
You specified best glass for the price, a fixed power will give you the best clarity in your price range.
Variables usually suffer in tracking and clarity as a trade off to keep the price low (in this price range).
So don't shy from fixed power, they will serve you the best for 400 and under.

If you want to plink to 300 yards yes you can find one, but once you push into the 400 - 1000 yard range you exponentially increase the cost of the scope among other things. Is this rifle for hunting or just for target practice? Is it built as a 1000 yard rifle? ... If not then dont buy a 1000 yard scope. If much of your hunting is in large wide open spaces or in hilly country with lots of trees - all of this make a difference in scope selection. Rule of thumb is spend as much on your scope as you do on your fifle
