What scope?

For a 300 win mag Caliber rifles long range shooting, A Nightforce NXS 5.5-22X50mm would be the best choice.

ther

I would put a zeiss 2.5 -10 x50 T* made in germany in the Diavari vm/v model. This scope has an excellent field of view ,great eye relief and available with bullet drop compensator. It also has one of the best twilght factor around.I own few scopes that are costly but i would sell them all ,but not this zeiss. You wil be very happy with it on your 300win.

Any Leupold! Make your pick based on your wants such as a certain reticle and field of view and power and then spend as much as you can afford.

My vote is a Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 with either the duplex or try the BC reticle. I personally have a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40 on my Sako m75SS 300WM I bought in 1997, and so does my hunting buddy with the same rifle/scope setup. All my other scopes are two VX3 3.5-10x40, 1 with the BC reticles on a T3 LS 270WSM (wife's rifle), the other with a duplex in gunmetal grey, waiting to get the Varmint reticle placed in for a project rifle. A VX3 4.5-14-40 ADJ OBJ on my Tikka T3 LS 270WSM, and a VX2 4-12x40 ADJ OBJ with LR duplex on my Sako 243, and a Vari-X III 6.5-20x40 safe queen right now I bought off EBAY froma guy in Vancouver,BC.

The Leupold VX2 4-12x40 with LR duplex would be my next suggestion if you want to save some cash. The reticle is similar to the Burris Ballastic Plex. Or try the new Leupold VX-L line of scopes.

Money no object?
S&B, pick the power that best suits your needs. Seriously, if you've got that kind of jack, get the best. Odds are though you would be well served by the Bushnell Elite/ Leupold VX-III/Nikon/ Burris scopes.

For me it would be;
Leupold
(in no particular order)
Vari-X III 2.5-8X36 fine duplex
Vari-X II 4-12X40 AO fine duplex
Vari-X III 3.5-10X40 AO fine duplex
Vari-X III 4.5-14X40 AO fine dplx

But those are just my choices
For my 340 Weatherby the Vari-X III 4.5-14X40 AO fine dplx will be the ticket, but I am thinking about having the quick release set up on top so that I can switch scopes out for different bullets weights.
Anyone have any rcommendations on this thought of set-up with a kicker like the 340Wby?
Thanks.

This last season I added a 4x12x40 leupold VX I to my 300 Weatherby Mag
My new go to hunting rifle, Moose Elk and Deer. Its a beautiful thing:dancingbanana:

If money wasn’t a factor what scope would you put on a .300 win mag that would be used for all big game?
The Leupold 2.5x8 is THE perfect all-around scope. It gives low power for close up and 8x is plenty for longer range. It is bright, clear, lightweight, and dependable. The VXII in 2x7 would be a close second for the same reasons.

The higher powered scopes are more expensive, bigger, heavier and aren't the best for closer hunting.

.

Only problem with the 2.5x8 and the 2x7 is that they are a little short between the rings for some actions. (long)
For me, with a 300 mag I'd go with a 3.5x10 vxlll and not fuss whether there is a better scope. Decent field of view on low power for the thicker stuff, and lots of magnification for long shots.
If I can see clearly until it's too late to hunt, have good definition throughout the day and the scope is tough/weatherproof, I'm completely happy. Leupold does that for me in the vxll or vxlll line.
