Friends of mine just purchased off the EE a used Tikka T3 in 6.5 Creedmore and another in 30-06 they are new to the target shooting/hunting world and I don't target shoot so my recommendations always lean towards Leupold hunting scopes example VX2 4-12x40mm LR reticle or VX3 4.5-14x40mm B&C reticle.

They bought a VX3 2.5-8x36mm for the 30-06 and I installed it and one of my older Vari X 11 3-9x40mm duplex reticle scopes on the 6.5 CM last night so they can get out and shoot the rifles while they look for a scope for the 6.5.

I'm interested in what scopes you guys are running or recommend on your 6.5 CM's for both target/hunting combo rifles.

Their budget is $700 for a scope right now because being new to hunting they are also looking for a range finder - binoculars - etc.

I appreciate any thoughts

Tell your friend to look at the Leupold Mark AR Mod.1 6-18X40mm AO Mil-Dot optic... it is right at their max budget and is a lot of scope for the money, with a lifetime warranty.

Tough to beat the versatility of the Vx3i 4.5-14x40 CDS. You can save a hundred bucks by going with the 3.5-10x40 which I would prefer for hunting. For range use I would give the edge to the 14x

Vortex has released some of the Viper 3-9x40's back into the Canadian market for a short time this summer. Under $400 and a heck of a good scope

That's exactly what and why I put that on my 280AI.

I think I read they aren't shipping to Canada anymore? I have a couple of SWFA scopes. I really Like the 1-4 illuminated, not a fan of the 6X MQ reticle, it's too fine for my eyes for hunting, so I stuck it on a AR15 range rifle. Haven't tried one of their variable scopes yet. The 6x is certainly robust enough, I put quite a few scopes through a fair bit of punishment and the 6x seems to maintain zero fairly well, and some others don't.

I do wish they were available in stores so I could take a look at some of the other models. I'm somewhat interested in the 3-9 for my 375 Ruger for some purposes, but no real knowledge of it.

Being that the 3-9 is FFP I’d bet that you would find the reticle even finer than the 6x when you have it dialed down.
