What shot would you take?

You come over a rise, look down and see this. You have you favourite big game rifle and are leaning against a tree, so a solid rest. Shot is 125 yards.

(Sorry if this has been posted before, I didn't see it)

Personally, the only shot I'd take is 5. And even that one is a pretty narrow margin for error. Shot 3 isn't quartering quite enough to place one confidently in the vitals without risking a gut shot.

Definitely not on any of those bulls. They are in the wide open and it is only a matter of time that one will present the perfect shot..................patience is a virtue. I'd wait for #6 to give me that perfect shot.

I don't think I'd take any of 'em right at that moment. I'd be tempted maybe by #5, and maybe a bit less so, by #3. But, in reality, if those were the only shots I had, I'd just admire 'em & come back another time.:)

Yep. Nothing great right now, but inside a few seconds a great shot will be available. That's your que to get a good rest and try to calm yourself down.

I'd be comfortable with 3 or 5 if it was all that was presneted to me ... but Track is right, just sit and wait and one of them would turn perfect broadside eventually....

Never had occasion to shoot an elk before, so they all look good. :) Which is likely the best scoring bull?

Pretty much all of them could be killed cleanly using a cartridge with enough horsepower and a good bullet like a TSX.

But yeah, they are undisturbed and in the open, an easier shot is going to present itself soon.

4 in the neck(although I don't know if you can kill a beast that light travels through:D), 6 in the chest.

With all bulls in the open as they are, I would study them all, and wait for the shot opportunity on the one that I really want. If I had to shoot them as they are, I would shoot 3, or 5, likely 3.
