What shotgun are you running?

I run a SBE2 with a tac ord lifter with no problems i just cant use powder puff target loads with the factory springs. you get the best of both worlds,3.5" capacity with benelli reliability. Not that the versa max isn't reliable and the the tac ord guns cant be beat for performance vs price but they are heavy and if you are serious about 3-gun you will eventually be quad loading and the benelli fore stock can't be beat in that department. i have a JM Pro 930 and it is a great gun to get into the sport on a budget but after a few thousand rounds stuff starts to break and then you have to deal with a pia company to get it fixed and cleaning it to keep it reliable is a chore.

All Versamaxs have a 3.5” chamber. #

When the versamax tactical was first introduced it was only rated as a 3" chamber. Lots of guys bought an additional Sport model and swapped parts to have a 3.5" receiver. Casey was one of them I think. Later tactical models came out with a 3.5" chamber. Earlier ones would accept 3.5 but they would not rate them as such ( Remington ). The current tactical sport does not say if it is a 3.5" receiver since it is irrelevant in the States. They only list how many 2 3/4" rounds it will hold. The laws are not debatable. The rating of the gun by the manufacturer is what counts here in Canada if you plug the tube based on what the gun was designed for.

As I said, this has been discussed at length and I won't debate the legalities of it with you. You are right, the laws are not debatable but the way they are interpreted are. I will say that the ones Casey sells are not marked 3.5" only 2 3/4" or 3" as he uses the tactical model as the base for his modification, he includes a letter from Remington stating that the tactical model is made with and able to fire a 3.5" shells and thus he makes them able to take 5x3.5" shells so it will fit 7x 2 3/4" shells in the mag. If you have issue with this you should probably just talk to him directly.

I run a 1301 Comp and it has a 3.5" receiver but will not fire 3.5" shells (at least not that I am aware of, haven't tried though) so I have it set to take 5x3" shells in the mag vice 5x3.5".

I'm old. I've been using a Remington 1187 Special Purpose since the early '90's. It ran the SOF 3 Gun Tactical match in Las Vegas six times and worked flawlessly in the desert sand.

Auggie D.

The m2's are nice. I have a sbe2 for hunting and I prefer it to my vm, for just shooting. But hands down my vm tactical with tacord lifter, extension and opened loading port for 3 gun is the best. Someone mentioned ported choke or barrel. I wouldn't do that, unless you go open. Then I'd add the arredondo gear for loading in open.

I don't have any problems at all Juan. You can use whatever you want. Makes no difference to me. My point was to add some history regarding the Versamax. And no, the laws regarding magazine capacity in semi shotguns at least is very clear and I'm not sure how anyone could interpret them differently. However, fill your boots. Its still kind of a free country.

I'm running a stoeger m3500 that's been modified for 3 gun, yes Casey does work on them as well, and they have the coveted 3.5" stamp, can pick up the base shotgun for roughly $950

Atta boys. 3.5" rocks. 7+1+1. I get a lot of looks from guys who count my rounds and wonder if their pumps with 10 rounds are worth it.

Really like my sbe2. I think I'm finally finished with upgrading it now. Nordic tube extension, Taran safety and improved trigger, extended charge handle, opened up loading port, ghost load mod and just installed the tac ord versa max lifter (Fit like a glove). Just need to get more practice in.
