SIG 226 9mm DAO for HRM police. I believe the RCMP are using them now or I think they still have the S&W(whatever they use 9mm) I never got near a RCMP to check.

Here on Vancouver Island the Municipal cops carry Glock 22's & 27's in .40 cal [ERT has the Glock 17's in 9mm] and the Mounties carry that S&W stainless steel abomination in 9mm.

Medicine Hat,AB just switched to a 40 cal. Glock. RCMP use the 5946 S&W in 9mm, I know this because I went shooting with a cop, and he let me try it. Try to be accurate with a 16lb. trigger pull

Here in the interior of BC the RCMP use the S&W Model 5946. RobertMcC is correct, those fellows/gals are bashful when it comes to having a peek at their sidearms. But some other LE people let me shoot theirs after they had a go with my P7. They all preferred that, to what they have to carry. As do I!.

I thought OPP was Sig P229 in .40S&W? Last time I did anything with their ERT guy that was what they had...


Ottawa, Calgary, and Edmonton PS's all G22 .40 (not .40S&W since its a Glock )

Sorry but the RCMP only carry 9mm, no .40's. They wish they could have a .40 and just about any other gun than the S&W.

Winnipeg Police Service issue the Glock 22 for uniform and Glock 27 for plainclothes members.
