What to do with my Norc 1911?

I have an older style Norc 1911 commander length that is parkerized, it already has new grips, extended slide stop and a mag well. I was wondering what you Norc guru's suggest I do from here? I am thinking of sinking around $300 or so into it and I would like to have a smooth working and nice looking 1911 out of it.

The only two things I have decided on so far are a new grip safety and a skeletonized hammer.

Also I will be using RK custom guns for the work.

For $300. Replace the front and rear sights with Novaks. If you are using it to play IPSC or IDPA go with a FO front sight. If for any other reason, night sights. Have a gunsmith do a trigger job on the gun.

If you are not shooting IPSC/IDPA and want a sharp looking slim Commander dump the magwell and just bevel the inside of the mag tunnel. If IDPA the extended mag release has been ruled illegal. They are a waste of money anyway and aren't necessary on the 1911 platform IMHO.

That is what I would do but you might want to do more or something else.

Take Care

Put a set of good sights on it, do a trigger job on, and ditch the extended slide release. Ditch the mag well and have the frame beveled instead.

The stock Commander style hammer should work fine with a beavertail grip safety and RK Custom Guns should have no problem getting a nice trigger pull with it.

I don't shoot IPSC or IDPA, so I don't really care about there rules so much.
The new hammer I just want for looks, just don't like the look of the original rounded hammer.

Cheers

I once had a first series Norc compact [commander]. Sold it off and eventually bought a NIB new series Norc compact. They are light years ahead of the earlier series right out of the box, IMHO. If it was me I'd sell the older one on the EE and pic up a new series one. Then go from there on mods after shooting it a bit.

My old series:

I had bought the above one used, as is, with the mods on it already [mag well and big mag release button - both of which I had no need for]. It was a decent 'shooter', though.

My new series:

BTW, for 'mods' I am not a fan of extended slide stops on 1911's. Although, I did ad a nice adjustable aluminum trigger, plus the double diamond hardwood grips. Great shooter right as she is.

I had thought about that, but have decided that I like the parkerized finish of the older one better then the blued one. On the other had it comes stock with a couple of the mods I want on this one, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of them on the EE.

Which confirms medical science reports that we see with our brains.

Nice Shooter NAA. I had an original done up by Gunnar. Gun is a great shooter but the new ones have a certain cache about them. Might be worth dropping some coin and letting Dlask do his magic with new sights and a trigger job. Don't think the gun would need anything else for me to be happy.

Sights and trigger, and a reliability tune. I've added an extended safety, but that's personal preference.

Except for the safety, grips and sights, the guts of the pistol are all Norinco. The trigger breaks at 3 1/2 lbs, and it is capable of much better accuracy than I am.
