Or don't tape the barrel at all.
Seriously, the only thing that needs that is a front-stuffer.

did you drink your slurpee too fast today?I second the condom or you can get "finger condoms" which are used in kitchens when you cut a finger.
Interesting about the duct tape...I've used it a few times with no problems, but they are always stainless barrels. Electrical tape is still my preference. I've used finger cots, and they work, but are fragile.
I have for years use a small piece from a sandwich bag and a rubber band.
Cost = zero
Thats even worse as duct tape glue contains chlorine which will lead to chemically induced stress corrosion cracking ( especially in stainless). And you'll never identify this until the a piece of the barrel falls off, as the corrosin occurs in the granular interspaces of the metal.

Wow, bummer for all those metal ducts that are taped up wiht duct tape!!![]()

anyone ever try an earplug? actually, i am too nervous to put anything over my barrel after the guy teaching my core 18 years ago showed me what happens when "stuff" is in the barrel. so you can actually wrap electrical/tuck tape on tightly to seal it totally off and it won't affect your accuracy or blow your barrel up?
Actually the air pressure between the bullet and the condom, ear plug, tape, etc pushes it off.
What the teacher was talking about was twigs, mug, ice form snow etc creating a hard plug. What's listed above are soft plugs, meaning that they aren't jammed in.
