What trail Camera to buy?

from what I hear, it's reliable and for a starter camera I'm willing to give it a shot. Unless someone on here can recommend a better one, in that price and reliability range?

For $80, I'd say take it...battery life is not as good as the IR cams, but it is a good cam with very decent pictures.

I don't think you will be disappointed for the $$$. ;)

You will also need to pick up 2 or 3 SD cards. Even the 512mb cards hold 500+ pics and they are dirt cheap.

Don't cheap out on the batteries either...Duracells or Energizers.

Bump... Looking to replace my two StealthCam's after this season. They don't like running in the cold & I don't like that they take C batteries...

I'm hoping some more CGN'ers will pipe up & provide insight into which ones perform in our climate! And take AA batteries!!!

Cheers
Jay

Bushnell trophy bone collector or bushnell trophy black flash

best cams out there IMO, take 8 AA batteries but last one year or over 5000 pics. Works in -20 as well and takes good pictures.

i bought one of the Moultrie,s...the digital display was farked to read after a few months,it was only displaying about 1/4 of the digital read out ...im not to happy with them...

Oh Davey... you are so in trouble bud... you got the bug.... if you have a few bucsk left over tsc stores has simmons IR cams on special for 49.99 this week.... nowhere near the quality of what you bought but you have to have a main cam and some sattelite cams to put on rubs, scrapes, hell...when I shoot a deer I even usually put one on the gut pile to see what shows up...

Happened to mine also, but after 2 or three years, I cannot remember now. I have no time to try and fix it by replacing the screen, so I gave it to another Gunnut here. I hope it got it goin again.

I will say though, from experience with another Moultrie product, their customer service is top notch, so you should give them a call even if your warranty is finished.

three moultries here, they stay out year round and use three sets of batteries each.
My oldest is three years old now and the display is weak but still usable and still takes great pics.

Does anyone have any experience with the WildGame Innovations cameras? I see they are priced a little lower than the usual suspects, and seeing as how I would like to have several set up, wondering if they are worth investing in a few. Thanks

For what it's worth, I will add that I have a Primos TruthCam 46 and I am quite pleased with it. It takes D batteries, and they seem to last fairly well. They may be slightly slow and they are sensitive to wind in the trees and grass if you don't set the sensitivity down. My only complaint is that it doesnt seem to pick up huge bucks lol.

I have the Red 6 IR.Taken over 700 pics with same set of C battery's.Awesome quality pics.

I did not realize the original date of this thread. I have during this time switched to a Bushnell Trophy cam, but not the new ones that are out, I think a 2009 or 10 not sure (mod. 119405). I believe if you read that chashin game website the models after this one seemed to have a few issues.

In any case, I like it much better than my original I40, its much smaller, has many more options and makes absolutely no noise when taking a pic unlike the I40 I had, and has a very good trigger time. The one thing I do find is that the night time pic's were much better on my I40. My model Bushnell only has 24 LED's which do not reach out as far as the I-40 did. I believe the newer Trophy's have more LED's.

My next cam will be one that has a IR black flash, but I am waiting to the prices drop a bit and read more reviews on them. I know when using the video mode on a regular IR, if the deer can see the LED panel they get spooked with the LED's glowing so long in video mode. I do not have that problem when it is only taking pic's, only in vid mode.

Moultrie Game Spy IR D55

this is, by far, THE best camera out there for the money. i have three of these and cannot find anything better for the money.

it take VERY clear and crisp photos. the trigger speed is fast and the camera is not hard on batteries at all. no noise at all.

i bought all my IR D55's from this guy. ships fast and cheap. (no affiliation with huntfishpro)

85 for cam + 25 shipping = 110$ to your door!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA regardless of where you purchase it from..
