What trail Camera to buy?

Well on 8 AA lithium ion batteries I know I can get well over 2000 pictures and when I changed them the display said they were still half full. The camera has been out for two full years now and I have only changed the batteries twice.

second worst camera i have ever seen or used. THE worst is the Wildview. what a piece of sh*t. bought two and PROMPTLY returned them. trigger speed is horrible and the photos are like a photos from a commodore 64..

I have a wildview IR cam I bought on special at TSC for 75 bucks... not bad for a cam you are willing to put out and loose... but yeah... the trigger speed does suck...

hmm most people I know with these cameras like them. They said the older models were hit and miss but these new ones are suppostly fixed and no problems I heard of. I ordered one so we will see how they are.

bushnell has good warrenty on their scopes, they should have the same with the cameras, if they want a return customer they will, All i own is bushnell scopes.

I got this trail cam this fall and put it out on a good moose trail here in newfoundland . first got a few good night shots but never got any day pic's though it must be the weather moving the trees to set the camera off. been working a lot so never got back to it untill this past week and no pi'cs . battery still top high . so bought a trail cam viewer and went in to see what is going on . walked down the trail towards the camera and she took pictures but i wasn't in any . it takes the camera so long to get a picture to go off I was past the camera and I was walking very slow ? this might be good on my bear bait in the spring but don't think it is any good as a trail cam unless you want to get pic's of turtles!

Their trail cam I bought takes excellent pics... it kills batts but it is an old model and takes 4 D cells..... I have a banner scope on my yote rifle and like it alot... I also have a pair of Bushnell binos I wouldn't feed to my dog...lol... hot and miss....

I bought the twin pack Wildviews 2.0 flash cams 4 years ago from CTC.Well worth the $100.I have one that a bear took at and it still takes pics.Takes up to a 2 gig card, and runs a long time off 4 C batts.

Okay, my stealthcam's have crapped out in the cold... Despite having new "C" batteries, they don't run in the cold... Did a little research & Lithium batteries seem to be the way to go if the camera is going to be used in the cold... And, if the decision is to use Lithium batteries, then your choice for cameras is limited to the ones that take AA's or battery packs...

So, with LeBaron's sale going on, no tax & my LeBaron's card giving me 10% off... I went & bought two of the SpyPoint IR6 cameras. I then bought four 4GB SD cards & the best AA Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries...

I must say, the SpyPoint cameras are VERY easy to set up (program). I turned the MegaPixel down to 3MP on the camera. I don't think I will need a 6MP trailcam pic...

Anyhow, the cameras are going up tomorrow @ the farm I am bowhunting. I'll let you guys know how the IR6 model works.

Cheers

For what reason did you turn it down to 3mp, is it because your setting it up in a low light environment or trying to get better pic's on fast moving animals???

I like to use the maximum setting so when I download the pic's into my computer , I can take a pic and enlarge it on my screen, sometimes to be able to see if a deer has horns early in the spring, or sometimes to see something that is lurking farther back in the pic. The more pixels you have, the clearer the pic will be when blowing up the picture.

Your right heavyBullet, I put them both back to 6MP after reading in the manual that it will take 1280 pics at 6MP on the 4GB cards I have in them...

One thing I forgot to say is that the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries are rated from -40 to +60... Expensive as hell @ $17 for FOUR batteries... (And each camera needs 6 batteries) BUT, I was willing to pay BECAUSE nothing is more frustrating than coming back to your trail camera & seeing its CRAPPED OUT because of the batteries!!!

Cheers

That's strange, my Trophy camera is a 5mp, and with a 2GB card I can get 1932 pic's, and with only a 1GB card I can get 942 pic's. My 2GB cards are SanDisk, and my 1GB cards are Kingston.

I do not know much about memory cards, and maybe someone can explain, but of the two 2GB SanDisk cards I have, one gets 1936 pic's and the other one gets 1832 when set at 5mp.

I went to the SanDisk website, and their chart says that a 2GB card at 5mp = 1144 pic's, and a 4GB cards at 6mp = 1907 pic's

Are you using a high performance card ??? I think they save faster to the card at a cost of memory space.

I know I am making to much of this, but little things like this make me nuts, hopefully someone can explain this.
