What type of bullet is best for large game?

Next time you are up this way, we can go to the local range. The answers to all of questions will be found there.
It will be most enlightening.

I’ll pass thanks. Unlike you, I wasn’t seeking any answers?
This is why you’ll never truly be enlightened. You are very misguided on what others think is “impressive”, hence the offer to go to the local range.
Your “trophy room” means about as much to anyone else as a CanTire coupon.
Keep putting yourself on that pedestal…

I believe the thread is titled something about best bullets for large game. Not come watch me shoot “pretend run shooting on a borrowed range with these bullets”.

Are you really this wrapped up in yourself?

You asked a question: I’ve never understood the good bullets cost to much complaint.

The offer was to go to the local range so you could observe what the average shooter there does, and note what is and what isn’t important to them, in order to answer your question. So you can understand that point of view. Enlightening at its finest. There zero mention of watching me shoot? Why would you even think that?
What is pretend run shooting? Is that what you do?
The local range is real… you must be confused between it and your own borrowed range? The one that you “own”?
You really need to get your ego under control bub…You keep running a race you can’t win…

Nice try. Why would I need to follow you to a range to watch someone else shoot? I’m not unfamiliar with the guy in a new 3/4 ton truck at the range shooting a Tikka with Hornady bullets. 🤣

I have used all these bullets to kill these large game, I have never lost an animal. Only bullet ever requiring a follow up shot has been mainly because of poor placement on the first shot, but the eld-x performance varies so much, it's one of my last choices. And it's been a 220 grain each time. Any good bonded bullet is a perfect choice, lead free only if the shots are going to be close, make sure the bullet opens up fully. The 95 grain(.234), 140 grain(.264), and 180 grain(.308) ballistic tips have never failed me, and wouldn't hesitate to use any of those exact bullets.

Elk - I have used Nosler Partition, Accubond, Accubond Long Range, Ballistic Tip. Woodleigh Weldcore. Barnes TTSX, and TSX. Hornady interlock, and Eld-x. Federals version of the trophy bonded bear claw. And back in the day Federal Blue Box Power shock.

Woodleigh is my first pick, then partition. But I love all the noslers.

Moose - Nosler Partition, and Accubond. Woodleigh Weldcore.

Bison - Woodleigh Weldcore, 350 grain out of a 375 Ruger.

If I could only choose 1 bullet it would be terminal ascent by federal, they can be found in a decent selection of calibers in both box ammo and projectiles for reloaders.

The way they open real wide like a Fusion/Gold Dot but have the solid copper shank is pretty cool

For those who like pictures along with their info, the virtual "trophy room" over at Rokslide dedicated to heavy for caliber, properly constructed 223 bullets like the TMK or 73-88gr ELDM is now well over 700 pages. There's a trophy or two in there

Do you have any actual experience you’d like to share. Or do you prefer to cherry pick the experience of others to defend your position?

Well, first off, "cherry pick" means to select a very small and generally out of context bit of evidence to support a position. I'm not doing that. The better part of a thousand pages of photos and testimonials isn't cherry picking. I'd say its very well established that something works consistently.

Do I have experience? Yep but its pretty limited because I switched to monos on account of being a hippie and caring about lead fragments and their effects on scavenging birds. I've preferred larger caliber monos to the 22 cals, although I've never tried them at 22-250 speeds. Shorter runs and more blood on the ground.

Now that I've sincerely answered your question, do me the same courtesy? Do you think experience gained by others is useless? I mean, do your pictures count more than theirs?

I'm curious as to if you think "A did this" is somehow more valid than "its well documented that B, C, D, E, F....etc did this, and here's the evidence".

You can’t cherry pick anecdotal evidence of others and expect to be taken seriously.

Again, I'm not sure you know what "cherry picking" means, as when there's a ton of evidence for something working consistently, citing that massive amount of evidence is NOT cherry picking.

That said, you're still not answering my questions which is quite bad faith and intellectually dishonest.

Why are their hundreds and hundreds of pictures and testimonials worth any less than yours? And if so, why?

After all, by your logic, no one could/should ever appeal to YOU and your experiences, so why even bother?

So at the best… you are asking questions you think you already know the know the answers to, again… and at worst, you have a very low opinion of everyone else because you believe yourself to be superior.

That’s nice?

Are you serious? Dishonest? That is rich coming from you. Why don’t you share your own experience?

Since you are so honest. Why don’t you tell us the reason why you all of a sudden posted a link to a “virtual” trophy room.

I have zero doubt that I could kill any elk with a 223 and a 77/88 wonder bullet. I’ve shot the 223 enough out to and past 1000 yards to understand what it can do.

I’ve shot lots of game with lots of bullets out of lots of cartridges. I have earned the right to my opinion.

But they didn't? Or are they wrong?

I posted the "virtual trophy room" because it demonstrates that there's a ton of evidence the heavy TMK and heavy ELDM work very consistently.

If the standard is that having a trophy room is what matters to anyone, then here's one. That's it that's all. Agree, disagree, I don't care. But the evidence is there.

So again, if their evidence is anecdotal and cherry picking and everything else, why should anyone bother with yours, or ever put stock in what you say? By your own standard, it seems they shouldn't.

And I did tell you I do have limited experience with those bullets, but stopped because I don't want to poison raptors and scavenging birds with lead fragments and started using monos. But that's totally irrelevant to whether or not they work lol

What. That a $2 bullet will keep you unable to hunt because of affordability?

No Joel. That isn’t the question.

I take exception to you calling me dishonest.

I guess that's a "you" problem?

When you answer someone's questions and they won't answer yours back, I think its bad faith and intellectually dishonest. You can feel however you want about that.

Again, if the standard is "having a lot of trophies means that experience is valid", no problem, not disagreeing. Here's a ton of evidence that corresponds with that standard.

Making it about me, and refusing to answer my questions when I answer yours, is what it is man. Anyone can make of that what they will, just like you can make what you will of me calling it bad faith and intellectually dishonest.

Dude. I don’t have time to answer your continuous novels. Who does?

What is dishonest is riding on the coat tails of everyone else’s experience.
