What type of Deer are you looking for

You "Need" 14 deer between 2 people:eek:

Please explain or some people might misunderstand.

I'd much rather see some filling their freezer for friend & family than having the DNR doing this.

given the choice of targets I will shoot the yearlings first, leave the old doe. And big bucks

got enough tags here that I don't need to worry about big deers for meat :D

The yearling we butchered earlier in the week was big enough to fill up 3 big freezer bags one of roast and 2 of ground. And the roast we had wed night was nice and tender. Can't wait to do the tenderloin. :D

Maybe Dogleg's family is big. Maybe he gives a lot away to friends. Does not matter.

FWIW, there are 5 in my household. Last year I got a 5 point bull elk (2 y/o), a good sized WT doe, a big bodied mature WT buck, and a 3 y/o WT buck. I gave about 2/3 of the doe to a family friend who was having a hard time feeding her kids, and the rest went in my freezer. I have 4 packages of elk stew, 2 packs of ground, 2 small packs of steak, some sausage and one very large elk roast that I am saving for a special occasion. That's it.

Last December, my deep freeze was full to the rim. Now it's empty, well it was until I got a deer last week. I still have an elk tag and 4 WT tags, and I will fill all the deer tags if I do not get an elk. It does not last very long.

I'm a meat hunter, but I will shoot a big buck if I get the chance.

I usually aim for a 2 year old doe, but with few antlerless tags in the group this year it may be the first buck I see :D

I want the same style as last year. 1st walking broadside to me REALLY slowly and the second standing quartered on to me confused at the funny stick pointed at it.

The last one on the last day cause I love to spend the time outdoors. Unless of course a really good buck walks past sooner. If it is getting down to the end I prefer to take a buck over a doe but only because our area has had bad winter kill and I want to see the population built up again.

Havent shot a B&C whitetail or mule deer yet so thats all I hold out for. We get enough meat from moose and I might shoot a doe for some sausage as we don't waste good moose meat in sausage. Geese make all the jerky a guy can eat!

Glad to hear that most of you have got some tasty does in your sights and have not bought into that must shoot a monster or nothing that is propagated on wild tv. :)
I might not shoot a record book buck but they are all trophy's to me.

I had to buy hamburger from the grocery store for the last 3 weeks:(. In Mb we have ample tags. So starting Sunday Whatever Moves. November I will look for horns!

Prob nothing. If I do shoot it is most likley a dry doe, spike buck, or a buck that I think is not the type that should be passing on its triats. I like getting out, and if I can help some of my buddys kids get something, great.
