The 308 Norma Mag 65DL Schultz & Larsen was my 3rd rifle that I bought for myself. :)

:)A little more background info. When I purchased that Parker-Hale Super Safari, I was in my young/early teens. I was in the process of ;)graduating from my Simpon-Sears sporterized Lee Enfield. The Parker-Hale was a 'beauty' compared to my 303Br so my obvious question to the seller was, "Why would you want to sell something that looks that good?" He pulled out a Schultz & Larsen and said, "Because I got this". I was hooked and promised myself, "One day...." End of the line, the closest thing I have to a collection is I decided to get the Schultz & Larsens in the three calibres shown on the red cover of the old Norma reloading manual. The 7x61S&H, 308NM and the 358NM. Apparently, the three were the result of the co-operative effort and brought to commercial availability by Norma and Schultz & Larsen. ;)Took me a while to finally locate a Schultz in 358NM:d:d.

I've seen your collection of S&L's John, very nice indeed.

:)Thanks guy. In the past few years, I've experienced a few medical 'issues'. With that in mind, I had given some thought into trimming the 'harem' in my gun safes down a little. A fellow site member 'straightened' me out on that plan. He let me know, "You don't have a collection of note, but you do have a very decent assortment of hunting rifles, shotguns and handguns. You've spent your life acquiring them, use & enjoy them. Let your kids worry about the final out come when you're not using them any longer.";) Looks like the out I was looking for so that's my plan at present:d.

About a 1950 vintage Brno 21 in 6.5 x 57 (24 inch barrel) . Shot a moose with it... and foolishly sold it and the barrel was rechambered to 6.5 x 280 Imp and restocked with a gorgeous piece of Turkish walnut by Sam Elliott (Calgary) in the early 70's.

One of the first 500 7600's made ( called Remington the other day ) made in 82 and got it from a guy on here when I was 17 still in the box brand new with factory grease. He had 3 of them. Only rifle I use for the last 12 year's. Unless it breaks it'll be the only one I use till I die. It's a 30-06 btw. Honestly if I could go back 12 years I would have bought the 308 instead. Bluing is wore off the bottom and left side of the reciever from carrying it so much.

My first one was bought with my own money is kind of a tie. One was way back when I lived in a FREE country at a FREE time. It was a 7x57 Chilean surplus Mauser advertised in the American Rifleman. It was 12 dollars I think. I sportized it myself with a little help from a machinist friend (I was still in High School). Passed it on to nephew who has taken deer with it. The other was a flintlock .45cal Kentucky Rifle kit from Dixie Gun Works. Built it myself. First squirrel bagged with it was what they call 'barked' look it up it is the way the pioneers shot them ... pretty cool way to bag a squirrel without puncturing it with a .45cal ball.

For me it was a Sako AV 30-06. A gunsmith suggested the Sako over a Remington BDL in the same caliber. He had both Rifles in his shop at the time so was able to compare them side by side.
