What was the first milsurp rifle you bought?

After inheriting my grandfathers collection, First shot was actually an 1863 Remington "Zouave" before even having m PAL. First bought, Russian SKS, still have it.

If only could go back in time...

I bought my first actual milsurp when I was still a teenager in highschool and it was a Czech Vz52 in the original calibre with some painted arab writing on the buttstock. For about $130 I got the rifle and a full grocery bag of surplus 7.62x45 on clips. I bought it without knowing anything about the history or what it was but I recall unwrapping it in the dim light of the basement and looking at all the dings and scratches wondering where it had been and what wars it had seen. The strong smell of the old grease and the weight of it in my hands made it really feel like this was something old & powerful. I was hooked!

Not sure if it's a true Milsurp, but I bought a Norinco 84S in 1988. I think it was in the $200-$300 range. After that was a Chinese SKS for $129 in 2002. Both are long gone, with the 84S put on the prohib list in the 90's.

M1 Garand. Bought from a mean guy in small college town hardware store. He had a pit in the back of the store, lifted a little trap door, put in a clip, blasted off 8 shots. I said cool. $160 plus a Smith&Wesson Model 10 for another $120 and away I went! He had a bad leg and I am sure he beat his kid, his wife and his dog.I'll never forget him.
The "good" old days.
Oh yeah, I can't remember what ever happened to either of those two fine instruments. That was 50 years ago;)

First milsurp/rifle was a Geman Mauser k98k sporter (given to me for being a helping hand on the farm). That sporter hooked me into the milsurp world. Then followed by a yugo m24/47(350$) and a mosin nagant m44 Carbine for $150.....then the list goes on.

Vet bringback #'s matching 1937 BSW K98, bought it off the 'used' rack at the old Tisdale SK gunshop, I believe I paid $200. Times have certainly changed, another case of 'wish I knew then what I know now' ;)
