What was your first big game rifle?

Remington model 30s, 30.06 with weaver 4x with a post, got from my uncle in 60s
still have this gun, change scope to a 6x weaver in late 60s, man this old gun could shoot and can still shoot under 1" at 100 yards, I am sure this gun has fired
more than 3000 rounds[/img]

A bubb'd 1914 Short Lee Enfield in 303/25.
I've only been shooting a few years.
A collector friend of mine picked up two old Enfield 303/25s for $150.
He gave me one for $50 and chucked in an old scope he had as well, a Bisley Deluxe 3-9x40.
I shot my first 2 roos with it with the iron sights and was chuffed. :D
Now the Bisley is on it courtesy of a Lynx bridge mount and some Weaver rings.
It shoots, well, minute of roo.
But it's shot minute of bunny plenty of times too.

Still my main rifle and probably will remain so.
My 8x57 is WAY overkill for roos.

Winchester Model 70 Ranger in 30-06. Topped with a Tasco 4 x scope ( I didn't know any better). Killed a ton of deer and antelope with it. Eventually had to trade for a shiny looking Rem 700 BDL in the same caliber. The Rem stock configuration didn't agree with me (too much recoil) so I eventually tradede that one too. I'd love to have that Ranger back though.

my first big game gun is a sako75 s/s 243win topped with a leupold m3 3.5-10x40
Then I gave it to my dad and I bought a sako75 finnlight 300wsm and a leupold vx3 3.5 10x50

a battered, bubba'd, beaten to ####, mismatched 1941 Lithgow No.1 Mk 3. i used it to finish off a road wounded deer last winter, but as of yet it remains unblooded during hunting season. in my hands anyways. my dad uncles and cousins used it to take many a Saskatchewan whitetail and muley before it came to be mine. i was gonna use a little .30-40 Krag Jorgensen carbine, but the damn thing won't even touch paper.

My dad's 300 savage , model 99. He 'gave' it to me for the first year. Next fall he pulled out $ 250 cash and gave it to me to buy whatever I wanted. Was going to buy a new 99 in 300 (still could get the rotary mag) but in the process the dealer had a MINT husquavarna in 25/06, in the 'newer' model.

30+ years later - both are still in my gunsafe, I'll fill a deer tag with each this fall
