What Was your first deer shot with?

.303 Brit with 150 grain Hornady Light Magnum rounds. Front shoulder shot. He didn't go anywhere, except to the freezer.

R.

Remington 700 BDL left hand bolt .270 over open sights heart/lung shot. He was so dead he wrapped himself and labeled the cuts.

Browning in 7mm Remington.
Was used to the old 30-30 having to shoot way high all the time. Eventually Dad asked me where I was shooting and straightened me out on the trajectory. Shot one then followed it to some bushes where it laid down. Next year out went out shot a pretty decent buck and back to the farm in about 15 minutes. Major disappointment. should have waited for a bigger one even if it never happened. Went back to open sights 30-30 for more of a challenge.

My first 2 deer were taken with my Cooey Model 39 .22 whilst they were feeding in my mom's
flower bed. The first deer I plopped with a centerfire was done with my No.1 mk3 Lee Enfield.
All were one shot kills. Ah...the good ol' days.:)

My first deer was last year and I shot it with my savage 111 270. I used the remington core lokt 130gr. Called him in to 13yds.

It happened so fast that I shap shot him alittle lower then I would of liked. Only ran about 40yds and fell over. Was pretty exciting for for my first one

The first deer I shot was with a sportered No4 Mk1 Lee-Enfield that my Dad bought (plus a box of ammo and soft case) for $24.95 at a store in Regina (don't remember exactly WHICH store) in 1969.

It was a nice 3 point whitetail (sorry, no pics as we had no small cameras in the early 80's).

Great memories....

A four digit serial numbered model 94 in 38-55. My father shot his first deer with one just like it ( not this one sadly) and I shot my first and about the following 6-7 with it. I think it needs to be dusted off for a doe hunt or something.

Happy times.
