What Was Your First Handgun and Do You Still Have It?

My first handgun was a S&W model 66. When I later bought a Colt Python I gave it to my girlfriend at the time. She still has it.

A lot of guns have gone under that bridge since.

My first was supposed to be a Springfield XD-M in the Gucci stainless slide before I knew any better. Saw it on the cover of a magazine when I first got into guns (still have that magazine somewhere). At that time they were a very new gun and weren't in Canada yet so I figured I'd get comfortable with an M&P 9mm, but this was back when they too were new and had some noted issues with quality and reliability, so I ended up shooting a sig p226 with a friend of mine and decided that would be it.
Bought a brand new sig P226 with the "new" E2 grip a few months later. I did love the gun, but I could never master that ####e double action trigger. Eventually, after about 5 or so years later, I bought a Glock 17 and it instantly fit me better than the sig.
Sold the sig to a nice guy on the west coast as his first handgun. Glad it went to a good home.

Glockz4lyfe now.

My first was a S&W 357 Highway patrolman 4" barrel I shot 38 rounds loaded with wadcutters, it was the gun I was never going to sell 40 years later I can't even remember what I traded it for.

Mine was a 6” 686 from Lever Arms in Van around 86/87. Sold it a few years ago and replaced it with a 8 3/8” adjustable front version.

At the time, my father suggested I get the 3” or 4” barrel in case I needed an ATC (for forestry / mining surveying back then). If I took his advice, i’d have a 12.6... I try not to think about that too much

My first was a S&W M&P9. Great starter for myself.

I sold it to a friend after about a year and bought a Sig P226, and after my friend sold it, it was stolen in the mail.

Too funny G. My first was a 686 2.5" round butt from Alan Lever himself in 1986. Living in Ontario, I had to physically put my FAC in an envelope and mail it to him for verification and he would include it inside the pistol box with the completed transaction.

I still have it.......and the 12.6 that goes with it. <Grin>

I feel for you my friend! Funny that we both got 6" L frames around the same time!

What is this "do you still have it?" You can sell guns?:onCrack:
Mine was a Taurus 1911 stainless in 9mm (my wife actually picked it out) and will never leave the FAMILY let alone my collection. I fortunately have 2 kids that love to shoot almost as much as I do.

In 1987 I bought a Ruger MKll Government Target with the 6 7/8" heavy target barrel. I foolishly sold it after acquiring a High Standard Citation.

In 1973 my Dad bought a Ruger Mk.1 with target sights and a 5.5" heavy barrel from the Base Exchange at CFB Cold Lake.

It was given to me some years back, and I will never sell it. At 50 metres it is amazingly accurate.

It's my first handgun. I feel your pain.

First I purchased was a Norinco 1911, first I actually had in my hands was a late 70's production Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum with 7.5" barrel. I bought a pair for CAD, I have none of the 3 still. Moved on to better versions.
