First handgun?
I suppose that would be the little Owlhead... 5-shot .32 S&W Short only, Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, USA. It was my Dad's gun, a gift from the town sheriff in Viking, Alberta in the late 1920s. The sheriff had taken it away from a bad guy of some sort, had it in a club bag full of guns from the old days. Late in World War Two, Dad was the Air Force Chief Inspector (Instruments and Avionics) at Aircraft Repair in Edmonton, but even with a job like that, there wasn't one single ounce of rubber available for a newborn kid (me) to teethe on. Dad wrapped the grips of the little Owlhead in green instrument tape and that was my teething ring. No crap, either. It "disappeared" from our luggage while we were moving from Alberta to Manitoba in 1955. Sure wish I had that one!
First one I ever fired was an 1860 Army Colt .44 which our local Anglican priest carried with him in the car wherever he went. I own it now and it still makes smoke and big noises.
First one I ever owned was a Luger, DWM, 1918, that I bought off an RCMP officer while I was still in high school. Still have that one!
