Cooey mod 39, I was 12 and dad paid $7.00 at Mcleods in Kipling Saskatchewan, I slept with that gun for two years!!! Wish I still had it,, needed a repeater,, silly youth!!!
Ruger 10/22 brand new from the store from way back in the day. Upgraded to a Bushnell scope from a BB gun scope. Coverted it to a bullpup(when it was legal to do so). Went back to stock form with a scope, then to a side folding stock with scope or dotsight, to a Krinker kit and dotsight. Has looked different through all the years and is in need of some new mags but it still brings a smile to my face when I get it out of the safe. Worth every penny(other than the bullpup conversion)
First one I shot was Dad's Cooey Model 75 single shot. It now sits in my collection and gets to the range 2-3 times a year. The first one I bought was a Remington Nylon 10C I got from a guy I went through basic with for $75. I still have it too as well as a Lakefield MkII and a Winchester Model 64.
Yup. Cooey 39....there's just something "Canadian" about having a cooey as your first gun.
My daughters will each recieve a BL22 Gr. II as their first rifles....whatever you buy, you wan't your first gun to be worthy of handing down to your kids in the future.....the first one is the one people generally never sell, and it will be worth it to buy a high quality gun as an heirloom. Browning, CZ, Annie....pretty much any quality rifle with real wood and blue.....and NOT a 10/22
Remington Model 12 pump action, chambered for .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle cartridges. It was my father's long before I was born .... according to the Remington date code on the barrel, it was manufactured in September of 1926.
