what was your Longest kill shot

275 steps to a crow in the middle of the field.

Winchester Model 70 DBM with .22-250 handloads.... 31 gr. WC735 and 50 gr Vmax bullet. A PUFF of feathers is all I saw in my Bushnell Buckhorn scope! :D

Sure felt good!!

circa 2007?? (Gimme a break-I'm 68!)

Whitetail doe (big one).
325 yds Pre-64 Mod 70 30-06 & Rem CorLokt 180 gr. SP
Used a handy fence post for a rest.
Nailed her just behind the shoulder. No wind at all. Bit of an "above the shoulder" hold & right on the money.
She ran 10 yds & dropped dead. I ran 335 yds. and nearly dropped dead.
Almost everything else I have ever shot has been under 100 yds.

185 yards, offhand, with a Winchester 1886, open iron sights, .45-70 loaded with a 405 grain bullet with a muzzle velocity of 1,350 fps. Two Whitetail deer.

Packed a portable shooting rest to the side of our favorite hunting field last year (after shooting 600m routinely) and popped a big fat w/t doe at laser ranged 574....just to see that it can be done.

I found out I prefer deer "hunting" more than "deer shooting"....sticking to archery for deer.

508 yards whitetale doe: .338 RUM with 300grn SMK
I shot a black bear at 385 yards from an akward kneeling postition on a steep sidehill, much harder than the doe with a bi-pod.

Longwalker,
The close ones are fun too, but nothing wrong with the long ones!
My closest is 15 yards on a black bear.

I have only shot one deer over 200 yrds and that was a mule deer I took at 265 paces. After I shot it the deer took two steps and dropped dead.
I was prone resting my gun on a log. I use a Tikka M695 in 7mm mag handloaded with 140 grain Accubonds ( muzzle 3100 fps).

Ever other animal I have taken has been under 200 yrds with the majority under 100.

440 yards, prone position, m695 tikka 30-06 with handloads(165 BTSP and H414). 10 minutes after I put him in my scope he was still standing there, so I figured it was meant to be.
