What would be a good size gong to shoot at 1km?

In my opinion, it totally depends on your background. Go 1 moa if you've got a background conducive to showing misses, larger if it'll be used in a place where you can't see them.

Yeah, I will be shooting in cultivated fields of a farmer, so not really a good backgroud to see misses... That's why it will be very useful ;)

This is the target I use for 1km and beyond. It's 16" wide x 31" tall and I find its a reasonable size at that range and I often deal with multiple winds where I shoot. I will be pushing it out to a mile very soon.

What kind of steel / alloy is this plate made of? Did you already hit this one? The scratchs seen are made from bullets impacts?

Hardox steel. It has been shot a LOT with various calibers ranging from 223 up to 50 BMG. I've lost track of how many layers of paint I've sprayed on it. I have a bunch of AR500 plates too and I think I prefer them more.
