what would consider accurate in a NR semi?

Just to clarify what distance were your groups made at (100yards/metres?). Is your XCR all original or has it had a new and improved barrel or other accuracy enhancing modifications added to it and what magnification/optic were you using when making these great groups. No disrespect intended, but I would like to know how you were able to achieve such good groups while so many others have been unsuccessful.

BTW great shooting and just to clarify you weren't shooting from the tonneau cover of your truck at 124 metres were you...;)
100 yards , using a 2x7x33 vx 1, and led sled. 2014 keymod, HB, only thing I added was a S&J linear comp. did about 12, 5 rnd groups, using 6 diff types of ammo, 5 types of ammo were shooting 2 moa and under, but the 3 , 5 rd groups of superformance 53 g were 1 moa. I'm gonna do more testing with that ammo and a better scope.image.jpg

I measured about 10 groups that day with a led caliper, shoot a group, walk down range, measure, cover holes, walk back and repeat. I'm going to try again soon , just to make sure, so far I have no reason to beleive that this gun can't shoot a easy 1 moa. And regards to fabricating groups, why would any one bother to do that, the gun is what it is. I didn't really even care about the groups, just wanted to try my new calipers:).

If you are doing 2" with any NR semi, you are shooting well.

I once shot a 3" group, iron sights, five shots with my SKS and factory ammo. Could not wipe that smile off my face for a day. Have not been able to repeat this but get close on occasion.

The MR1 is a nice semi and if you are getting under 2 - awesome. Otherwise I would expect 2.5" would be a realistic goal for this rifle.

2" with any semi auto is good. I had an MR1 that easily shot 1" with good loads and would do 1.5" quite effortlessly - I just didn't like the ergos and the 20" spout. My XCR-M seems to keep hunting ammo in 2-2.5" all day. I consider that plenty good for what I am using it for.

If your tough enough to carry around a m14/m305 that would be my pick. I bought one but it was much too heavy for me. 9lbs with no optics or anything. I shot 10rds of crappy 150gr AE ammo. that sprayed a nice 3.5" group at 100m. with a hot barrel I shot some 180gr federal factory ammo through it and printed a nice little 3 shot group under 1.5" laying prone with a versa pod and a 4x scope. Fluke? maybe but I doubt it, if you find the right ammo most any gun will shoot well.
I wish some of these other non restricted rifles weren't so stinking expensive like the xcr. Hey lets jack the price up because it's a non restriced semi and not much more accurate than a norinco? I'll never understand.

Man the editors sure earn their money where you do your wroting.
:)

I thaught dat righting was pritty good for 3:30am n the middle of da nite w/o even making n e Korectshuns/draft(s), bedsides U got that write sum of the best righters I know cant speel wurth a dam. and if u think dats bad you shud see how slow i tipe.

Honestly when you right a draft to be checked out by an editor they are not concerned with spelling or even grammar, it's all about the content (actual story...) and accuracy of critical facts (things like names... that need to be correct).

I have been absolutely amazed with my 12.5" NEA AR15. This lil' bad boy will shoot (consistently) sub MOA with selected factory ammo. Cheap Barnaul ammo groups are slightly over 2 MOA. (favorite factory ammo is Australian Outback 55gr Sierra Blitzking, followed very closely by Hornady 55gr SP training ammo). My para model SKS will shoot under 2 inches at 75 meters with the Choate scope mount and TRS-25 (with Hornady SST and Serbian factory ammo). I consider myself very lucky, especially with the SKS. This SKS is my fourth one and by far the most accurate.

i think 2 moa is pretty decent for most of the non-restricted semi's we can attain up here..I've seen some pretty good shooters do quite well when they tweak and tune to get the most out of them. I'm not sure if it's rumour or legend, but i heard about one guy here (butterscotch or toffee or something) was getting .000000001 MOA @ 40000000m with his semi, but I didn't see it to confirm. i personally get about 2moa with my Tavors, a little less with my XCR-L RFB's... My XCR-M seems to shoot close to 1moa on occasion, but my best semi (restricted) is my LMT-MWS 308...that rifle keeps up with most of my better bolt rifles.

The NEA is a restricted firearm in Canada.
