Do you remember these crudely made russian shotguns?
Ugly, kicked like a mule and would last forever.
Whatever happened to them? I haven't seen any dealer sell new ones in a few years now.

Neat little shotguns. Built like tanks.

I don’t remember seeing anything other than the semi auto one (151). Others were used on EE

I use to make Road Warrior shot guns out of them, Good steel. well built. would buy another in a heart beat.

It was cheaper to buy them new instead of used on the EE LOL

I really miss them. I have a few now but always wanted the single shot rifle in 7.62x39. You see them used now and then but 500.00 and 600.00 dollars price tags are outrageous. I like the Sever the combo gun in .22 magnum and 20 bore. Hopefully someday they will be imported again. There are a lot more in the country than most think.

Never bought a new one but bought a bunch. When I was a kid I remember seeing an ad in a Sears catalogue for their O/U shotgun and the image stuck with me until I bought one used 40 years later. Along the way I picked up a couple Baikal SxSs too, one of which looks near mint. As most will likely agree the Baikals aren't refined in their final finishing but are instead well-built reliable tools made to last for decades of use.

Absolutely love my Baikals!

Single shot .410 is my Grouse Go-To
45-70 Side by Side is my brush thumper
Over Under Combination in 308 and 12 Gauge is just my favorite hunting rifle all around.

If you can get your hands on any Baikal reasonably priced, do it. Last a lifetime. Reliable, built like a tank a treat to shoot.

I have both of those, plus the 45/70 side by side. Great guns that will last forever.

They were about $400 after tax when they were availlable 7-8 years ago. Remington also sold them rebranded maybe 5-6 years ago.
Flash forward 8 years, add in some inflation, general price increases plus the fact they are no longer availlable new and I'd say $500 for a good used specimen would be more then fair....

I just bought a single shot in 270 caliber with scope mount and rings.. It is like new. Paid $375.00 for it. Added it to my Baikal collection. Have a .410 single, 12 gauge over/under, .22 semi-auto, 45 70 double rifle and I had a nice SxS that I foolishly sold. They are generally great guns for the price. Have a number of Baikal air guns as well.

yeah they were awesome, i had an O/U in 12ga and a SxS in 20ga, i should have never sold them. Hard to find the newer ones that do have the removable chokes. The older ones pop up all the time, but they way over choked for what i like to shoot.
So it seems we won't be getting them then eh, that sucks. I kinda figured the whole Russia embargo thing had something to do with it, but was at the lobo the other day and they are still bringing in Russian produced vodka, must be a selective embargo.

Part of me kind of wishes I kept my Baikals (2 of them marked "Made in the USSR" LOL). But alas, the were tanks that weren't being used so they deserve a good home.
