What's a 16 gauge wingmaster worth.

Does anyone have an idea what a 16 gauge Remington 870 Wingmaster in in very good condition might be worth?

I can't say I have ever come across one till now and I am somewhat stumped.

From $200 to $600.00 to the guy has to have one.
They are around, but not hens teeth rare by any means.
You going to shoot it or sell it?

Hang on to it. I had a 16 ga. Wingmaster stolen about 18 years ago.

To me, a 16 ga is less desirable than a 12 or a 20, so while I wouldn't pay a premium for one, there are folks who will. I'll say $350-$500 DOC.

These older guns are all 2 3/4 ", not a plus in todays 3" magnum world.

I think I'd be inclined to agree with this, but, the "less desirable" part is subjective. I actually like 16ga. allot, but ammo cost is a bit of a stumbling block for me. To your question~good photos posted with the ad will likely get your more interest/$ when you go to sell. Be patient too, the 16ga fans are out there.

I honestly would have never bothered with 16ga myself, but inherited a WW2-era 16ga Ithaca 37 and it's one of my favorite guns now. I've never liked the "lines" on Ithaca 37s (Wingmasters are significantly more "handsome" guns") but BOY does this gun shoulder/point nicely. A much lighter carry in the woods too.

True but if someone wants to shoot a 16 gauge they probably don't want to be battered shooting a 3" magnum. That's just my logic, I'm not trying to start a debate.

I agree the gun looks in real nice shape with the 16 ga being an excellent upland bird gun you'd think it would be worth $350 to $400. One draw back ,my understanding , is the Remington 16 ga. is built on the 12 ga. frame and lugging around the extra weight may turn some folks away . Winchester built their 16 ga Model 12 on the lighter and smaller 20 ga frame. Combine that with a modified choke and you have a desirable upland gun.

Remington also built 20 gauges on the 12 gauge frame for a number of years before they scaled them down to size.
Dont know the details on that, but can be a bane if looking for a barrel when one has the large frame 20.

Agreed, that does look like the "large frame" Wingmaster I had in 20ga., only the original finish on the wood on mine was glossy. Mine also had fancier engraving on the pump. Either IT was refinished, yours was, or yours is a different..more satin finish. Regardless, 16ga or not, I think I'd have a hard time letting a pretty old Wingmaster like that go. If you have to, I'd be surprised if you couldn't get close to $400 for it.

This one is an older one than yours was with no engraving. My guess this one is late 50's
