Browning Mod 92
When I was running the gun show in Riverview in the 1990's I found a new Browning 92 in the parking lot. Everyone was packing up on Sunday and I was going to get my car so I could pack up. I looked in the parking lot and saw a white box lying there. I figured some guy bought a gun and threw out the box. I went over to pick it up for garbage and it weighed about 7 or 8 lbs. picked it up and opened the box. It was a Browning OK but had engraved receiver with some gold inlay. I told the other gun I ran the show with Terry about what I found, so we decided we would check all the books and contact the people that participated in the show to find the owner. A guy from Quebec showed up just as we were closing up and he was in a sweat about loosing a gun. We made him tell us what he lost and his description was 100%. We wouldn't have kept the gun, we thought we would have to call everyone that was at the show to find the owner, and ship the dam thing to him. It was a relief to have him return, it saved us a lot of work.
Nice gun and I would like to have one some day. Poor bugger that left it behind was almost in tears because it belonged to a friend of his.
I have a 44-40 Winchester 92 manufactured in 1907, coming today the guy wants me to look at it and an early 94 Winchester in 38-55, a Model 95 Winchester in 303, and a Winchester 22 pump.
I love the 44-40's but would take a 92 Browning just because of the workmanship, and Browning has some extremely nice guns. They show up at some shows for around $600 to $700. If you want one just be patient and they always show up might take year or so but you will spend more if you can’t wait.
