What is the best and cheapest way to separate media after tumbling? Right now I used crushed walnut and separate by large kitchen vegetable spoon lol. Not very fast but it does work. I was thinking of some type of kitty litter separator or just by the expensive one at Cabelas. Unless any one else has better ideas????????

I have the rotary tumbler that came with my frankford arsenal tumbler. It works well but probably not cheap enough. I've seen 4l ice cream pails with holes drilled in the bottom, I'd probably go that route if I needed a cheap option.

I bought an ugly old collander for 50 cents at a yard sale. Sifted a lot of brass with that thing. It even came with a handle! Must be the deluxe model. :p

I had a Lyman sifting pan that worked fine. But awhile ago I got a Dillon media seperator and its way better.

I use a dollar store plastic bucket with dollar store wire waste basket to shake the brass inside the bucket. Over the years I have added a cable tie or 3 to hold the mesh basket together. Works great.

Patent pending. I can provide pictures upon request.:)

My Lyman tumbler has a screen lid on it. I just turn the unit upside down over a large plastic bin. The vibration and my shaking gets out 99% of the media.

If I use the larger Dillon unit, with a solid lid, I use the big Dillon rotary separator. A few revs in that and all the media is out.
