what's happening with Winchester??

north american manufactures have never existed to support "our way of life", they are only interested in making a profit. show me the loyality from north american manufactures to support "our way of life".......when their profits are being invested in capitalist China and cheap Chinese labour.

You trying to tell me that China isn't trying to make a profit!!!!!! They are all trying to make a profit.....that's the whole idea of running a business!!!! What I'm saying is...spend your hard-earned $$$$ on products made by freedom-loving individuals.........not Communists:)

What happened is Winchester stopping innovation sometime early in the 20th century. The M1 was their last major original design. For the next century they were riding on their laurels and completely ignoring market trends while trying to peddle the same ancient bolt action/lever-action stuff on the consumer and simultaneously letting their quality control slip to new lows. All things considered, it's surprising that they lasted as long as they did.

O.K........I get it your a Commy lover!! Trudeau must've been your favourite P.M.too (you both got a lot in common anyways):)

Well, Ballsie, I am still waiting for an example of an American Company that has been loyal to the point of going beyond the call;)

I am opposed to a company like Norinco, not because it's from China, but because they produce poor quality crap!!

Off the top of my head I can think of two. Leupold and RCBS Both get glowing customer service recomendations.

Both are excellent companies and deliver superior product at a reasonable price. Up and beyond as Balls claimed? I dunno? I am familiar with the entire Leupold line and very happy with every Leupold that I own. I know the local rep and repair techs at Okotoks and they do a superior job, that is on their American made product. Not everything that bears the Leupold name lives up to their name. In particular I am speaking of their RX series range finders. I have spoken to dozens who have experienced problems and think that the RX series is #### and I agree with them! They are not made in thier Oregon factory, but still wear the L name. As far as RCBS goes, it is a good product but Lee does it cheaper!

Til convinced otherwise, my original opinion still stands. Loyalty is to just making $$$$$$$ and the most American of them have went to China. Even Buck Knives, the we're in partnership with the Lord, Buck Co. have went to China for some of their product. Not a bad knife, but for such a grass roots am co. to bear the made in China label means that they too are loyal to the $$$$BUCK$$$$.

Hey, I am counting on you to hold the fort and not change your name to Norinco/94:D

Well fellas.........when the lefty socialists Liberals come for your guns I,m sure the Chinese will go to bat for you......oh wait they don't allow their own "subjects" to own guns.........well at least they support NRA and CSSA and SCI....oh wait they don't do that either.......well at least they take good care of their "employees".......if a ration of rice counts!!! They do support getting women into the shooting sports...oh wait...they don't have rights!!! Well they sponsor "hunt of a lifetime" for terminally ill children....oh wait....nope they don't do that either!!!!!! So exactly how do they support you loyal customers????

You have named a few companies, but you did not say how they go up and beyond? Well I did not think you could.

I see by your next post that you are one weird paranoid dude! Someone suggested that we don't feed the little troll! I agree! :yingyang::D

Take the easy way out!!! I figured as much.:)

I work at a gun shop - Winchester got bought out by browning (go figure) and what they did is shut down the main manufacturing plant in Conn. so what they did now is only offer SXR rifles, S### series shotguns and simple bolt action rifles (notice they have all the same patents as browning, i.e. backbore and active valve systems) - winchester/browning sent us a marketing memo saying that they were going to eventually re-introduce their 94 series, and possibly the 88 series - i say its good chance, but ill believe it when i see it. they were half-assed enough this year already.

What the @#$$$ do you think Norinco is?????? I wasn't talking importing to the U.S.........I was talking imported to Canada:)

Why should I be any more loyal to US made products than Chinese? Both are foreign made as far as I'm concerned.

You should check your source. B did not buy out W, Both are owned and controled by the same. Both W and B have had a relationship from the very beginning. The Winchester company has been loosiing money for years so it was finally put out of its misery. One of the reasons for this loss of profit was the high price of union labor. The final productionm run at W was supervised by B to insure that the union would not sabotage the product. Future Winchesters will probably be produced by FN or Miroku.

The biggest surprise in this senerio is the latest good ole WINCHESTER to hit the shelf, the Wildcat was not made by FN or in Japan but in Russia:eek:

you know what, actually you are right - it definitely was a little more complicated than that - haha, i could have just said that. my boss actually explained it moreso like that than what i was saying. at least Olin distributors is still around (winchester ammo).

Olin Corp bought out the ammo section a long time back and they have been a separate company from u.s.r. arms. co. which manufactured many of their firearms. u.s. r as in repeating in case some should misunderstand the usr part:D The WINCHESTER brand name that appears on the firearms still belongs to Olin, but has been licenced to the Hew Haven co. and obviously others.

Stow that crap, balls. It's fine to disagree, but no name calling or the like.
