here is my basic set up for 95% of my hunting. i use this set up for sheep and moose in the yukon to deer and antelope hunting on the praries in sask. i like a big pack so i can pack out any deer/antelope/ram in one go and not have to go back and get a pack or other means of getting game out.

here is my pack with every thing in it.

Whats in your pack?

It depends on the season for me. The majority of my hunting is during archery while the temperatures are still well above freezing. I pack as light as possible and always have a few liters of water. Normally I'll carry:

Spotting Scope
Tripod
Binoculars
Rangefinder
Water
Granola Bars
Knife
Sharpener
Extra Shirt
Extra Socks
Broadhead Wrench
Spare Release

Anything heavier than deer, I like to pack a pair of hatchets. Much easier to quarter a moose or elk when you can hammer the backbone apart with them, makes the hard work simple. A bit more to pack around but will make life 100% easier when its time to get dirty.

Big pack for a day trip. I have a large Mystery Ranch to, but its to big for day use. For a day trip I use an Eberlestock X2, its small but has a frame. Just about the right size.

I forgot about my Gerber Saw.. Almost a necessity when you get an animal on the ground for the pelvic bone.. That's in my pack too!

Mine is similar. As the cold increases so, too, does the size of my pack.
Handi Cam, Calls
Spotting Scope, Antlers
Tripod, Scents
Binoculars, Lunch
Rangefinder, GPS
Water, Compass
Granola Bars
Knife
Sharpener
Extra Shirt
Extra Socks

i carry an axe on my saddle when im guiding moose, makes cutting ribs off easy. if i was packing an elk i would just take the rib meat off the rib cage no need for a knife/hatchet.

Camera in a Pelican case
Gerber folding saw
Nalgene Bottle
1/4 rope, about 10 feet.
Zip lock bags for hearts, liver, etc
Paper bags for birds
Sh*t Tickets
Binoculars
Shooting stick
Shells, extra ammo
I usually carry a small canvas shoulder bag, my hunting purse as my family calls it.
and the rest of my gear, (knives fire starting light micro survival kit etc) is in my pockets.

Most of my stuff is in my pockets of my jacket or a belt bag.

calls, scents, rope (1/4"x15ft ish), big knife, small knife, gps/compass, whistle, tags, flashlight, lighter, binoculars, and gloves/touque if required

that said, I am usually within an hour walk of my truck, and can get my truck in there if required for game removal.

Pretty much the same here....but TP is also a requirement....:D

Not neccesary if main list is brought

Knife sharpener – you got two olfa blades, easy to sharpen with a break off blade

Matches – bring a waterproof lighter or flint and steel as they are more reliable

spare batts – use all electronics with interchangeable batteries

extra knife – have extra olfa blades, weighs too much

extra headlamp – lights are a luxury, 1 is plenty

Spare Jacket or Hoodie – dress in wool layers before you leave

Bore snake and bore light – shoe lace or paracord will work to remove debris from barrel

Reflector vest – this isnt alberta

flagging tape – use tp as its bio degradable

Game bags cheese cloth – you’ve got two garbage bags
that will work to get your meat to camp

scalpal knife and blades (in case I get something worth mounting) – olfa will work in an emergency

hatchet – why not bring a chainsaw

keys – leave at camp or at truck under a rock

map – GPS and back up compass will get you to a road

can of spam – shoot a rat if you’re that hungry

tea light candles – rubber tubing is lighter and burns long as well

Whistle – something you should learn

A spoon – this isn’t a sit down dinner, drink your soup like a cup

Disposable rubber gloves – man up, its only blood, unless wolf hunting

stove and fuel A blue enamel mug - shouldn’t need for 1 day away from main camp

lens cloth – use your shirt, or just clean before you leave camp

sleeping bag – should have enough clothes to stay dry and warm next to a fire over night

survival kit in a can – your daypack is this

fishing line with 3 or 4 hooks – 20 days before you starve to death

I usually head out for 2 or 3 days at a time, but my hunting partner and I split the gear that we need to bring so its not so bad of a haul.

We have no permanent camp...nor do we own any property. We head out on crown land...find a nice spot for a camp (usually beside a lake if we can) and go out from there.

In my pack, I bring:

TP!!!
underwear
wool socks x2 pair
fleece top and pants
long johns
a couple days worth of MRE's
Jerky!!
powdered juice
instant coffee
canteen w/cup
matches AND a waterproof lighter
fire starting kit
8'x10' tarp
ball of parachord (with the tarp, much lighter and less bulky than a tent)
knife
multitool
sleeping bag
self inflating air matress
toque and gloves
bug spray (depending on the season)
digital camera
binos
ammo
smokes!
whiskey (in a waterbottle)
Telescoping fishing rod (not for survival purposes, I just like fishing.)
small tackle box (3"x5")
topo map of the area
compass
rifle/muzzleloader/shotgun/bow (depending on season)

Pack??? Sometimes I take a 6 pack.

Seriously, I get all my critters on my property or across the road. So I just stuff my pockets. When I go farther a field I take a bottle of water and a flash light.

Almost all my hunting (deer, bear, moose, small game and watefowl) is done from my camp, so I generally dont use a pack.

Knife, gun, ammo, length of rope, bit of paracord, TP, watertight container with latex gloves, lighter, mini-multiool, some bandaids, bottle of water and a snack of some sort is about all I have on me (besides what im wearing of course).

Head back to camp for lunch and to get warm.

My pack is my F150. My hunting grounds are twenty minutes away (30min if we stop for Timmys on the way out). My knife and tags are the only thing that I carry over and above my rifle.

Reflector vest – this isnt alberta
