Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

Ruger #1 in 458 WM 500gr bullet loaded to the hilt.
Traded off. DAN>>>:)

me too....might have even been the same rifle:D

actually I shot a Trail Guns Armoury Kodiak Mark IV about 15 years ago...this is a side by side 45-70.....I thought the weight would tame it but with that darn old timey buttstock with about two feet:p of drop at the heel it was a handful...but fun:rolleyes:

Hate to admit it, but the worst recoil, by no means the heaviest, came from spicy loads in a .45-70 Marlin guide gun, what a mule...

Heaviest recoil, by no means the most unpleasant though, from my 7lb .375 RUM, god damn that thing's a freight train... Have a 7mm STW coming, still can't be as bad as that guide gun for discomfort, or have it's way with you like the light .375...

I'm not sure really what I found the worst, recoil doesn't usually bother me too much. But my cousin was using my Maverick 12 gauge one day, after he put a few 2 3/4 cheap value pack shells through it I tossed him a 3" Mag Slug to try. When he pulled the trigger he knocked the glasses off his face, bloodied his nose, split his lip, and came real close to landing on his ass.:D He still gets a ribbing evey now and then for that one.

mmmmmmmmmm

l must say that off all the rifles lve had and shot, 2 come to mind 1 being a m 17 with full wood and all original wood rebarreled and chambered to 378 weatherby with the original steel butt pad the next is casull's 50-140 that l bought off him, loaded with 750 grainer's ,both these rifles make shooting a 45-70 or a 450 alaskan loaded to the max feel like your shooting a small bore

One of the Stupidest guns that I shot was a Sako hunter in .416 Remington Magnum,(with stupid hot 400gr loads of course) It could not have weighed more than 7or8 pounds with the leupold 2.5-8, And it was such a fast sharp kick, nevermind worrying about getting hit in the face with the scope. I used to have a 458 win mag but it gave a smooth solid push, I hear that a .378 WBY mag is a extrememly fast sharp kicking rifle, but one day I will have to try one.

don't laugh, a .303 british enfield with the steel buttplate, with NON-RECESSED screws:eek: , goddamn things stuck out a good 3/16 of an inch!
i swore you could see the slot mark in my arm from the screws, and i wasn't any older than 13 or 14yrs!:D

300gr loads from a stainless Browning A-Bolt in 375Magnum.

Everything about that gun was wrong for a 375. Small buttstock, hockey puck buttpad, 26" bbl

im not sure which one hurt the most so ill post both...

my 870 with 3 1/2" 00buck through a full choke (thought i had mod in:redface: ) with my shoulder tight against a tree. OUCH!

the other is was my 870 with rifled barrel shooting 3" sabots from prone  (only 1 shot that way) and then another off the bench  (only once again) i have concluded that sitting with nothing behind you is the best option;)

Eh .....

10ga H&R single shot... ouchhh, really bad kicking.

I was going to try a friend 350RemMag but after he fired a shot from a bench, he turned towards us and his forehaed was deeply cut on top of his eyebrow, almost 2" wide, perfect moon tatoo..lol he was stunned and could hardly stay put on his 2 legs..so I decided to pass on trying it...

Also remember my dads 12ga double barrel with 2 triggers....that thing was a kicker, no recoil pad...man, took me long enough to stop flinching after that.

I have to agree with Calum, a Jungle carbine with that damn hard rubber buttpad, that is half the size of the butt, is one of the worst guns to shoot. A few rounds and my shoulder was completely bruised the next day.

A 50 cal with a break was far more pleasant to shoot.

Oh and I forgot, a 10ga SxS double trigger that accidently fired both barrels simultaneously.

After a day of shooting slugs proably 100 or more the 12 ga felt like it was kicking plenty... But I seem to recall that at 10 a 308 had a bunch of kick...

A 3.5" load in a a friend's Beretta Xtrema while being told it was loaded with 2.75" light target loads...

I still didn't forgave him

My dad had a german friend who was a little bush crazy and he carried a 9.3 x 72 mauser. I fired it once when I was about 16 (and skinny) and it damn near put me in the next hunting zone.
