Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

That is real recoil, to be sure. .458 Lott is my personal threshold, and the .450 Rigby recoils a tad more yet than the Lott as I understand it. Neat gun by the way, plenty of .416 Rigby's out there and not many .450's yet, what did you build it on or is it the CZ550 factory offering?

It was built by the now defunct Empire Rifle company on one of their proprietary double square bridge Mauser type actions.

A LONG time ago ... I did the 'John Wayne' impersonation: ...

I held a (at the time, brand new) Remington 600 chambered in .350 Rem Mag
.. in one hand ... and pulled the trigger.

The good news:
(1) I did not drop the rifle
(2) The pain in my sprained wrist lasted for only a week.

About 5 years ago a friend introduced me to neighbour. This old mountian man was heavy into guns like no other. At 6'7", 300+lbs, an avid outdoorsmen, hunter, re-loader, gun smith and all around red neck this guy was a blast, literaly! At the time he let us fire his most recent project... a beautiful little 45/70 saddle gun the he had board out to fit hand loaded old school full brass and an ugly lead slug .50 cal rounds!

This 'monster' held it with one hand, he took a shot and it looked like he had fired a toy gun 'cause he was so dam huge. So my buddy and I took a turn, each of us being over 6' and 200+lbs we figured no prob! Yeah...right! He ended up with a bruse the size of his whole sholder and and when it was my turn, I thought I had it craddled good....well not so much. The dam thing threw my sholder back HARD and came up so fast I thought it was going to take my head off!

After watching the video (my wifehad the cam) it almost DID take my head off.

WOW what a mule!

870 with remington nitro mag, punched myself in the face i wasnt ready, also got a nasty cut on my nose shooting a .50 timberwolf...

The best part is this was a couple day's before his Wedding!

Good thing for buddy that many women LIKE a manly facial scar or two.
'Prap's, after they stop oozing puss down the cheek and on to the Tux lapel tho. :p
Hope his lady has a sense of humour? ...!.

Nasty 30/06 gas gun magnum eyebrow there. ... Minds me of that (& once was enough) ... max loaded, snowbank prone, .375HH squirter.
Did you know that blood will stain oil finished French walnut?.

I own a Beretta ES100 Pintail which absolutely punishes with 385gr Partitions. In light clothing, with the factory rubber recoil pad, it will draw blood from tearing skin inside of 10 rounds. Handgun wise, I find my 5" 460V to be an absolute pussycat, but my 10" Magnum Research BFR in 45/70 was downright unpleasant after 3 rounds......

What should have the most felt recoil: .338 win mag
What was the most felt recoil: .308 win in a stevens model 200

I sh** you not i fired 2 rounds out of it and it brought a tear to my eye after the 1st one, and i was stupid enough to shoot a 2nd round...my buddy warned me but i told him it couldnt be that bad, boy was I wrong. It hurt, after that he sold it and bought a M70 in .308.

.475 A&M magnum on a Weatherby Mark 5 action back in the 70's.
500 gr. solid at 2900+ fps. A real thumper and a definition of OOOOWWW!
Don't shoot one of these wearing only a t-shirt like I did.

M37 Ithaca 20 gauge, using the fully rifled barrel and Winchester Supreme Partition Gold sabot slugs.
A 260 grain .451 bullet moving at 1900 fps out of a 5.5 pound shotgun.
It gets your attention forthwith!

My old man has a 1969 Ithaca M37 featherlight. I shot some duck loads out of it. I certainly woke me up. Not the heaviest kick I've experienced, but most unmanageable I'd say.

The heaviest kick I've yet experienced is the old 30-40 Krag in an 1886 Winchester. Such a lovely rifle, but it tapped me on the shoulder alright. I find it's down to training. If you've not shot the caliber before, you're going to have a bad experience. It doesn't take me too long to sort out my shoulder once I've shot a new cartridge. Hell, the first time I shot my dad's 1909 Savage 1899 rifle in 30-30, I got a punch in the nose. I just had no muscle memory for that rifle. Now it's like shooting 22.

I shot 44 Special in a 4" S&W that had crazy muzzle flip, but again, I wasn't sure what to expect. Once you're used to the idea that the muzzle is going to flip, you allow the grip to roll in your hand and absorb more of the flip.

I had a Ruger M77 Mk II with the "canoe paddle" synthetic stock...for some reason that thing spanked me hard...sold it and replaced with a Winchester M70 with MacMillian hunter stock, it's total pussy cat.

My Dad's old hunting buddy had a German made Weatherby Mark V in .300 Weatherby MAG that he handloaded to the max, the damn thing would lift the baseball hat off your head with the shock wave.

My 700 BDL in .338 Win Mag is more of a push, totally manageable as it fits me well...same with my brother's .375 H&H...it's stout for sure, but more of a push than a slap.

My dad's old mauser action parker hale .300 win mag with 180grn hot loads...thing kicks like a friggin mule. I still have it, it will one shot drp just about any big game, but I hate shooting it.

I have a Enfield #5, mk 1 that kicks like a mule... Factory loads hurt after 10 or so shoots, but I had some hot reloads that almost blew my arm off. The Number 5 with factory loads is Comparable to my mossberg 500 with turkey loads, but with alot more muzzle flash.
