Whats the Most unusual/ odd/ classic Cartridge you've taken Deer+ game with?

7x61 Sharpe & Hart - recently acquired by me but has taken many moose over the past 60 years by the previous owner. Came with 100 factory rounds but looking at recipes to reload

Shot my biggest Whitetail to date with a 38-55 Winchester. 255 grain CIL Jacketed bullet chased by 32 grains of H322
Very decisive. I shot two whitetails that day, a buck and a doe, and both were pass throughs. None went 20 feet after
the shot. Dave.

I have not actually taken either out hunting, but I now have two rifles chambered in 7.65 Mauser - also known as 7.65 Belgian, 7.65x53, 7.65 Argentine and probably other names. It looks like a 308 Win case, but uses .311"/.312" bullets. Muzzle velocities in Hornady 9th show 100 fps more than their loads in 303 British with the same 174 grain bullets, so I have no doubts it would be just fine in the bush. Hornady used a 29" barrel Model 1891 as their test rifle - I have a 1909 Argentine Cavalry Carbine, and a "home made" deal using Chilean 1895 receiver and a 1907 Paraguay barrel (I think that is what it is??).

Well I've taken them with 30-30, 30-40, 7.65 x 53, 38-55, 303 br, 8 x 57 mauser.
Got to watch loading that 95 up too hot Potash...google destroyed 1893, 1895, 1896...they do not handle case head separation well at all

I hear ya! No reason or desire at all to push that one, in any way. Just going "bang" and making a hole somewhere near where expected is good enough! Was just tickled as can be to get a chamber matching some sized brass and a breeching washer that worked - way more of a make-me-feel-like-I-did-something sort of project!!!

Not particularly odd, but classic, I guess - whitetail deer over the years with .303 British, 30-30, .32WS, 8x57, 8mm-06.

32-40 Ballard and Winchester. Obsolete now and always considered marginal at best for deer size animals, but I cut my teeth with it and under 100y there was no fuss. That was so long ago but I can still play those moments through my mind like they're on a big screen.

Used my 9.5x57 on a good bear a few years ago, did the job nicely at just under 100 yards.
