what's the most useless gun ever

Browing/Colt .25 Automatic. As Jeff Cooper wrote in one of the books I have of his, "I can find no use for pistols of this caliber but they still make them and I could be wrong".

Take Care

Hey AMPHIBIOUS there is a spot in our camp if you wanna come for a week.Would love to have you out.You might just have fun. Also would love to see how you fair out shooting deer with hounds on thier ass.My bets you would have a different view on the semi/pump thing when you leave.

Our camp are meat hunter. If we get a trophy its a bonus.

Let me know what time to pick you up at the Ottawa air port.Season here opens up on the 6th of Nov.
Interesting comment.
I have hunted dear and coyotes with hounnds over there, and so did my father.
None of the people we hunted with used semis or pumps, and all filled their tags.

Not a slam or anything, just an observation.....

A semi that actually semi-automatically fired would be ideal where we hunt. There are so many trees, both big and small, that interfere with shots. I like to think of myself as a decent shot, hell, I got my 6 pointer at 100 yards through brush like this while he was on the move. A bolt action is just not suited to our style of hunting. I use a lever or pump. A few guys use semis, but they also use the "It Jammed on me" excuse alot, which is believeable.

I would also consider this as a decent clear shot in our area.

I often hunt the same density of bush out here, and I do it with single shot BPCR rifles, smokeless rilfes, and Muzzle loaders.
This pic is thee easiest for me to find at the time. It's coniferous stuff, but you geet the idea.

This thread seems to be turning into a "I don't use this type of gun (semi/SKS/handgun/WSMs) so it must be useless...."

At least I can give reasons why I think the 710 is useless, based on some limited expereince wiht the gun.

A semi isn't a useless tool for hunting, nor does it means that the owner is a poor marksman, or sprays and prays. FWIW, I'd love to use some accurized AR for coyote hunitng, like is oftne done in the USA.

A sks may not be an optimum hunitn grifle, mostly becuase the cartridge isn't particularly powerful, but it can be just as accurate as many iron sighted rifles commonly used for hunting such as some lever actions and other milsurps like SMLE's. And it is very reliable in my experience (which I stated earlier on) And it was a decent battle rifle for it's time, and served it's purpose well.

Handguns are great tools, they are far from useless, Boomers post pretty much summed that up...

I may think that Full stock Mannlicher rifles look awful, have no time whatsoever for *nostalgic* cartridges, think pump rifles are goofy, not have any desire to own a semi auto 30-06 (or just about any 30-06 for that matter), hate Enfield based custom rifles, vomit when I see most factory wood stocks, dislike most lever guns.....But that doesn't mean they are useless. It just means I know what I like/works for me and none of them fall within those boundaries.

They are far from useless to some people. Actually BigRedd summed it up here: I think that firearms in general are only as useless as the operator

Exactly.I don't try to replace bullet placement with more bullets in the air.Doing so greatly increases the odds of lost or wounded animals. If I don't have a very high percentage shot available,I hold my fire.

The young fellow I sold the Remington 710 to 5 years ago, got his moose this year. I haven't yet. I guess that makes my A-Bolt useless and his 710 not.
Feel free to send me all the useless rifles you have, I'll even pay the shipping!

Dustin,
we need more people like you, calling names perfect.
Wonder what causes people to act like that?
BTW,Nice flag on your icon. I wonder if you share same ideology,
with those who were singing ..." Drang nach Osten"... in late '30s?

I wonder how you will behave with the gun in your hand, if you so jumpy?

Idiots and guns = that is what antis want.

So you say they want you.

That Flag is the Imperial German Flag. The Flag under which my Great Grandfather fought in WWI. HOW DARE YOU accuse me of being a Nazi! DO NOT SPEAK TO ME AGAIN!!!!!

It pays to do a little research before showing everyone that you're full of ####!

ah, 4 years to late. I used to live in ottawa ;) funny, lots of my friends there were hunters.... none owned a semi, came home with their deer every year. I won't hunt with dogs, so guess you should fill that spot with someone else?

I think stubblejumper shares my stance on this subject....

It happened that my GGfather was in 8th Army on Easter Front faithfully fighting for his country and what, he was not an Aryan during '33-'45 period, so useless and only needed in gas chamber. How is that?
Research, ya, should you check it out the crests on Wehrmacht and read what have happened to the civilians in their hands, either Jews, Russians, Poles, Gypsies and so on...
It is sad....

PS
Control your temper, no one mentioned nazi here, only German, ...verstehen meinen Freund?

The MOST usless gun you can own , is one you DON'T shoot.
2 year rule....if you haven't shot it in 2 years, sell it and buy more ammo for the ones you do.

The rest of this thread seems to be going good but I'm warning Peter Pan and Dustin right now to cease this little flame war between the two of ya's.

Like right now, I don't wanna see another post by either of you in this thread again unless it has something to do with the topic and not each other.

X2... That is the most useful bit of wisdom I have seen on this whole thread!!!

I think anything "tactical" unless you are in the military or a cop is kind of stupid. Just like the "Tactical" pants everyone wears when they fire the "tactical" guns at the range littering empty brass all over the place.

Just like the "Tactical" pants everyone wears when they fire the "tactical" guns at the range littering empty brass all over the place

And when you add in the brass from the 22 rimfires that people can't be bothered to pick up,it makes for a real eyesore.
