whats the ultimate pump or lever

Model 71 in 348 Winchester.
Nice rifle to pack and plenty of killing power....Elk and moose are deer family right!:D

My 30/30 trapper is pretty handy too!

As to the quint essential lever gun for deer size game. There can be only one

The winchester model 94 (insert caliber choice)
The model 94 in .30-30 was said to (at one time) taken more whitetail deer
than any other gun and caliber combined.

As for the pump I'd be guessing but the Remington model 7600 (insert caliber)
It seems to have a huge fan base. Toted to have excellent reliability and accuracy, as well as having quick target accusition.

Those are my choices and yes I know, I must be ghey I own 2 94's in .30-30
One was grandpa's and the other was the first rifle I ever bought. I just can't part with either. CDN 1

Man, am I stuck. Dang near any decent rifle past 6mm calibre, not counting the .25-20 and its ilk.
I haven't even fired what I think could be one of the best deer rifles made....a .308 Marlin with the 22" barrel. Or a Savage 99 in .300.

I would have a Remmie pump if I came across one gladly. As for levers I have a Marlin 336 30-30 and a Savage 99c in 308. Works for me:)

ultimate?? I would have to go with the Rem 760 carbine in .308 although the .30-06 would probably do just fine.

My personal choice in this category is a Mossberg 472 in .30-30. Is it the ultimate? no I don't think so but it is a Mossberg and I like old Mossbergs so it works for me.

My 94 top eject Trapper in .30-.30 with a Williams peep sight and tru glo fiber optic front sight.

.....................looks like dude is banned anyway.
