Whats with the 375H&H haters?

This debate is entirely moot. Nobody, or nothing, on the receiving end of a .375 pill cares what cartridge is was fired from. If whatever you shot with your .375 didn't die it had nothing to do with the cartridge. That being said, I prefer the .375 H&H for most of the reasons listed here. The .375 Ruger is yet another modern solution to a non existing problem.

Yep. That about sums it up.:)

Short fat and efficient = boring. Haha More to life than efficiency. I agree the Ruger is a good round, will I ever own one? Wouldn’t even consider it. I’ve owned many .375s over the years, my current turned down and shortened model 70 stainless classic is about perfect. This has all been said many times. Gate is just having fun getting everyone going. This New king crap really irritates us old guys. Hahah

I have nothin but love for both H&H and Ruger...but the H&H has the romance lol

Mine is in the EE not because its a bad rifle or a bad round at all. Far from it, the Safari Express is a beauty and a surprisingly easy shooter for such a big gun. Just a bit longer and heavier than I like, especially scoped.

So for the last little while I was thinking I need a 375H&H (mainly for squirrels), so I started watching the EE. Funnily enough its seems to have quite a few of them at any time, most of which are 'rare' of course.
But it got me wondering why the turnover on these guns, the rate seems so horrendous. Is it recoil, ammo costs, crappy rifles, or a combination?

Recoil. The idea looks good on paper but alas that bison hunt probably won't ever draw and Africa ain't gonna happen. And you can make a hole in paper without ringing one's bell so much. I think 30-06 recoil is unpleasant for most shooters if all honesty. H and H and Ruger class recoil is really unpleasant for most. The rifle sits. Then gets sold.

There's a King in the EE now...………………………..:jerkit:

IMHO there are 4 calibers (maybe 5) that refuse to die,and deservedly so: 45-70, 6.5 X 55, 30-06 and 375 H&H (303 British, maybe). After well over 100 years, they've come out with a ton of calibers that can do some things marginally better, but overall, they can't be beat. The only ones that came along are the small calibers like the 223 and 22-250 that were markedly different from the old girls.

Thank you. Most every other caliber else is either very narrow niche filling, or plain old Sales and Marketing.

IMHO, If a person had one 22 cal. centerfire, the 4 I named, and maybe a 458 WM or Lott, you could hunt anything, anywhere in the world in complete safety and ethically.

In a few years, as the 375 Ruger continues to grow in popularity and new rifle H&H sales dwindle, the "NEW" part of the title will be dropped, and the 375 Ruger will simply be known as the "King of the 375's"

The old cordite cartridge will be reminisced about as a quaint relic from a bygone time.

Each time a 30 cal magnum comes out they say the same thing. And yet, the 30-06 lives on

You can almost hear the violins playing...

Wow , does any body know what the word obsolete means or do some have the right to declare it so . 375 h&h is used and is available worldwide , 375 Ruger not so much . Explain obsolete to me

Obsolete is defined as "no longer produced or used; out of date"

Will somebody please find an English/Troll dictionary and send it out to the coast?
