What's with the ammo shortage?

On a more helpful note ,I dont belive what you are seeing is a shortage but a lack of restocking after the hunting seasons if its anything like around here they may not be restocked until spring. And the ammo in those dusty boxes will be just fine.:ar15:

Ummm...VE2......relax.

I'm guessing you are french? You are definitely new....so let me explain a couple of things.

1. The Ron Paul reference you are getting pissed about was in reply to the guy that posted when the war(s) in the middle east are over, there will be decent surplus. Ron Paul said he will bring all the troops home...hence: More surplus. It was meant as a joke (and it was actually quite clever)

2. The raincoat reference that also apparently has you pissed off was NOT posted in your thread, it is NZ's sigline. When someone says something funny in a thread we often use their quote for a sig.....he thought Dench's quote was funny so he used it.

As one of the "helpfull" guys in this thread, let me ask you to take a step back and relax. If you are really that high strung you likely wont last long on CGN ;)

Now: Back to our regular scheduled programming.

Well not sure if this the right thing but here goes;
Finally found Some 168grs. 308W. It's in Hornady A-MAX not cheap but I still have some reservations to use it as the following text will explain.

"A-MAX bullets are usually longer and more tapered than their Match weight equivalents. This increases the BC and makes them more suited for long range shooting. Because they produce a longer OAL cartridge, A-MAX bullets are not usually suitable for magazine fed operation. Some people don't like the plastic tip and believe it may cause erratic shots if deformed. My experience does not support this. Overall, shoot the A-MAX if you're single loading and shoot the Match if you need to shoot and reload quickly from a magazine."

Well, at least I can shoot something out of it, not sure how it will cycle in the Mag. Let you know later i.e. if I survive:D

The ammo should be loaded to SAAMI specs, so feeding from the mag should be no problem. I have shot hundreds of rounds of 30-06 loaded with 168gr Amax bullets through my Garand with no issues at all. They feed and function just fine. The plastic tips are certainly softer and more easily damaged than FMJ, but are much better than standard exposed lead SP bullets.

My mistake

I would assume most retailers are waiting for their booking stock to show. Ordering that way keeps cost down for them. More stock will show soon I'm sure. Or have you just asked them to order stock in for you? Most small guys will, but don't expect it from wss or can tire.

Ya well, they keep their costs down for sure, not always reflected in their retail prices though. We will await further confirmation from the Retailers. They have to make Money, that's a given and accepted, but, there seems to be allot of greed out there.
Whatever happened to January sales? Inventory clearance sales? The dusty old boxes they have since Moses crossed the red sea? Just kiddind LOL.
Maybe they can get back the Capital investment, if they are still sitting on it?Laugh2
