I remember seeing older pics of a police tactical team with the same type of mirror mounted on a shotgun. The mirror was used to clear corners an avoid exposure.

I believe you're right. I can see it being useful for corners and "T" corridors/intersections, where the muzzle covers one end while the operator can keep a visual on the opposite corridor while still under cover.

There are mirror "kits" around (with picitanny mounts) that allow you to use AR mounted Aimpoints, EO techs, etc, to shoot around corners while only exposing the rifle. But this doesn't look like one of them--especially in the absence of a dot sight in the photo.

Well if the light hits it right lights you up like a Christmas tree which is bad.

I think its more about going around corners and stuff like that but I rather not stick the rifle in the room were someone can be waiting to grab it and pull.
