I didn't like my short barrel guns because they were too light for a steady offhand hold, and too loud to shoot without ear protection. Accuracy is irrelevant, and equal in long or short guns.
I think it all boils down to personal preference. I can completely understand the benefits of short barrels, they do handle more quickly, point faster, are easy to pack etc... I personally don't think they look cool, but again it's a personal thing.
Myself, I like long barrels. My current favorite plinker is a mossberg 146-b with a 26" barrel. It is heavy, scary accurate, and steady as a rock shooting offhand out to 100m. And super quiet. And, most of all... I think that looong barrel looks super bada$$.
