What's with the targets lately?

I am getting slightly amused/annoyed with the targets being posted lately. Guys are claiming 1/2 MOA groups and even providing pictures. The funny thing is when you see these targets there's always a one little flyer with "pulled", or something of the sort, written right next to it. Sorry guys but that "pulled" shot is part of your group and needs to be included when measuring. In my opinion it just looks ridiculous and the poster loses credibility. I don't care if you pulled, farted, sneezed, coughed, had a seizure, twitched, shivered, or fainted... That shot still counts and needs to be measured. Thanks for letting me rant and feel free to comment.

What are you sayin'?

Here's a group I shot with my savage when it was virtually brand new. Note the flyer.....

I guess since I just posted a new thread with a picture of a group this is directed at me. I really have nothing to prove I do not have any illusions of being good or trying to out do anyone. The photo I posted has one fouling shot
I had just cleaned the rifle and fired 6 shots the first shot was a fouler the next 5 shots were .350" centre to centre all this proves to me is my case prep COL and powder ect. are on the right track to go and shoot 600m, 700m, 1000m +

I like to share my data for .338 LM as others did when I was starting out. If someone wants to intentionally BS there groups who cares they are only fooling
themselves. I guess next time I am out I will shoot my fouling shots on a separate target so I don't annoy you:rolleyes:

Shoot all the "foulers" you want.

Now shoot 5- 5 shot groups (25 shots and count them all) and tell me what they average. Shooting one 3 shot .3moa group does not constitute calling that gun a .3 moa gun...

A true .5 moa gun built on a hunting/tactical platform is something special.

Very few custom hunting/tactical guns shoot .5 moa "all day"

I agree !! Again what I posted was purely for other .338 LM shooters not to boast or say I have the most accurate rifle ever.

This is a forum, guys sharing info., pics of their guns, targets, it's NOT a shooting competition so no need to get anal. Sometimes you shoot a good group and pull a shot, that's not the rifles fault and doesn't speak to it's accuracy potential only the shooters. Lighten up a little and enjoy in others success!

for all those that post pics of a good group out of excitment, thanks! I like seeing enthusiasm! keep it up.

There is no need to be condesending towards anyone that wants to share some excitment. What if the poster is new to the game? puts a damper on a potential new passion.
I cant say that I've never gotten excited over a three shot group. Most of my target shooting is done beyond 500 yards so when I pull it into 100-200 yards and shoot a good group i get pumped. just try to chillax a little. :).

Not sure where you are getting your info from but it is documented that if you sneeze and fart at the same time you will get your best groups.

It is like exhaling during trigger squeeze, BUT during this procedure you "exhale" out of both ends but at higher velocities, releasing greater pressure, how can you go wrong?

It does take some practice.

I guess I should have added a smiley to my first post, it wasn't serious. And I have no illusions of being any good, either.

The illusion is that if you shoot one great group and/or shoot a group with a great 4 shot cluster and one "flier" that your rifle is capable of that every time and you can claim a 0.5MOA (or whatever) rifle.

I have one fantastic .38" 100yd group shot with my BSA CF-2 in 6.5x55. Have I kept it for framing? Damn right. Is it a sub 0.5MOA rifle? Not even close, more like 1-1.25MOA on a typical day.

Hopefully nobody does anything rash and decides to stop posting over a bit of good natured ribbing. IMO, the people that bulls**t themselves (and others) on what their guns will shoot are not the ones who will post photographic evidence on the forum that proves them wrong.

joe-nwt, that's a sweet group.
