My fav is the 280 Rem with 30-06 and 270 Win running a close second and third.

Right now it is my 25WSSM... this is an outstanding mid caliber for everyting from coyotes to deer. It's as fast as a hot loaded 25-06 with but with much less recoil. I am spanking varmints at unbelievable distances and watching the explosions through the scope... I like it a lot.
My favorite firearm is still the sluggun... but that is not what this thread intended.

the title says it all, my fav rifle for hunting is the 300 win mag nice long range and alot of punch

I've done most hunting with a 300WM for 10 years now but I wouldn't say .30 is my favourite hunting caliber. I've also used a 6.5 Swede, 284 Win and 30/06; it really depends on what the game is.

Having said that, I'd like to invest in a nice 270 Win for an all-purpose rifle. It just looks ideal for me.

I have to go with the 264 Winchester Magnum.
I have taken woodchucks,coyote and moose with this cartridge.
I also have a 7mmRem Mag that is a cracker-jack shooter but have yet to take any game with it.

I'm surprized no one has mentioned the trusty old savage 99 in 300savage for whitetails. My favorite is the winchester model 100 in the 284 winchester for anything including moose.
