What's your #1 bullet choice ?

Just wondering what your bullet choice would be if you could only choose one to reload with for hunting deer ?

I prefer something that dumps its energy in a reliable way throughout the deer, with two holes on either side of the animal, not something that will expolde on impact hoping it reaches the vitals, right now I like the Federal bonded Bonded tip. 160g our of a 280 Remington. In my opinion the best all game all around cartridge bullet combo.

Its hard to pick just one but I can't help noticing that I use a lot of Ballistic-tips and Accu-bonds. Sometimes interchangeably.

130 grain TTSX out of a 30-06, flattens em.

It depends entirely on the cartridge, that I am loading for. For a cartridge pat produces 3200fps or more, I choose a monometal, for lower muzzle velocities, I like the Accubond.

Which is why I asked the OP what he was loading for. There is a huge difference in bullet performance between say a 22-250 for deer hunting than say a 45-70. With the first I would use a Partition or a Tripple Shock while the latter is good to go with a soft cast bullet. Even within calibre say a 250 Savage compared to a 257 WBY. The 250-3000 is a great deer cartridge when loaded with just about any 100 grain cup & core bullet while the Weatherby demands a tougher bullet.

If I could it would be a 130gr SST from a .270. Since our WMU is restricted to shotguns and muzzleloaders my bullet of choice is a rifled slug.

I prefer Hornady bullets with a cannelure, and then seat the bullets to the middle of cannelure.

That way I don't have to worry about the distance to the lands or cartridge OAL.

Sorry the Devil made me say it.

But for deer hunting in Central Pennsyltucky the Hornady InterLock bullets always held together like a Nosler Partition.
