What's your deer gun?

Remington Model 7 in 7mm08, Ruger No 1 RSI in 7x57, Parker Hale 1200 C in 270 Win. Ruger 44 Carbine for the really thick stuff. 7mm STW for prairie mulies and speed goats when they are in the next township.

In the past I've used a Cooey Model 71 in 30-06, a Remington 788 in 308 and a Winchester 30-30 carbine along with a PSE compound bow.
It was to be a Hawken type muzzleloading rifle this fall with PRB in 50, but the mainspring broke. I brought out my 458x2" Mauser, but had no chance to actually use it.

Oh well............

After roughly 15 years of using only a Savage 210 slug gun or a H&R Ultra Slug for deer (shotgun-only area) I moved to a rifle-legal zone...and this year I used a different gun each day! Man, was it ever nice to hunt deer with a rifle again. Nothing brings back fond memories of past hunts quite as much as hunting with the same gun that you used back then.

So this season, I blanked with a Steyr Scout, an older Rem model 7 in .308, a C.Sharps 1875, and a H&R Buffalo Classic. Then on day four I got a a small-racked-but-big-bodied 8-pointer...with a .375H&H! Virtually no meat damage, and for that whole day I was in Africa again.:)

I bought a sportered swede in 6.5 55 for my daughter about 5 years ago and started using it for deer. Now my 30-06's are parked and have been using the swede for everything. I haven't shot a moose with it yet, ate my tag the last time I was drawn. But it works just fine for deer, elk & bear.
