what's your favorite 22LR ammo? worst?

My go to ammunition for most of my rifles, is SK Standard Plus, It is quite accurate, for a reasonable price. I also purchased some RWS Championship Edition for a good price, and my Volquartsen really likes that load. The worst that I have tried was Winchester Wildcat. I tried it in a custom 10/22 , and it was so dirty , that the gun would start to malfunction after about 100 rounds.

Thing is almost impossible to find and at a good price around here.. and don't see any online either most times

SK Standard Plus and Wolfe MT are tied at the top for me... anything Remington is at the bottom... especially Thunderbolts.

Mini Mags. Accurate for target and reliable for hunting. Although a bit more expensive than the others, it is not worth adjusting your scope from ammo to ammo. Don't like Remingtons.

Concensus about CCI being best is quite convincing. I've not used it much because of the price. I found Winchester Wildcat to be quite poor with lots of duds. My GSG 1911 .22 seems to like the Remington Thunderbolt 40g lead round nose and I've just bought a lot of it. Some say it's dirty but I clean my guns after every usage so it has never been an issue for me.

Wow, a lot of hate for the Winchester super X (555). I must be the rare exception to the rule.they shoot great in my rimfire rifles, good thing too because I still have a couple of cases in the basement . Federals (champion) no problems either.

CCI Mini-Mags for most of my .22 - RN for plinking and HP for gophers. Reliable, can get quite good groups with carbine length barrels.

CCI SHP for my CZ-452 Lux - need to be really specific about which rifle I use that ammo in. It's hot and fast - 1640FPS - and my shorter barreled .22s don't seem to care for it much, group sizes really open up. But on the CZ, I can get 3/4 inch groups at 75 yards without working it too hard, and easily minute of gopher out to 100 yards. Fast flat trajectory means I'm not worried about holdover. And the SHP boolit really drops them - my nickname for them is "anti-gopher-grenades".

Federal HV Match are Ok when I can't get CCI. Usually keep a brick around as a backup.

Super-X and Thunderbolts: Best use - keep a couple boxes around to give to the competition in gopher derbys, helps keep their scores down. Junk, unreliable, doesn't group worth a crap. With both I can hear the difference in the charge from shot to shot.

I generally buy American Eagle. Never had any major issues with it in any of my guns. Anything Federal seems to work really well, actually. Remington and Winchester give me trouble though and only gets used on new guns to see if I can get rid of it.

CCI minimags and Federal 525's have been good performers in all my .22's. I have branched out and recently bought some Win M22's but haven't tried them yet.

at the more economical end cci preferably cci sv. willing to go a few bucks more eley paractice or sk standard +. i won't buy cheap bulk.

Federal bulk pack or Remington Golden bullets for plinking : feeds well in semi-auto, accurate enought for plinking and taking out small critters

Winchester ammo, i'll never buy that crap EVER !!! had a run with it, and my semi-autos became semi-bolt action

Best, pretty much anything from CCI, but the bulk of it being Blazer. CCI shoots best in all my rimfires and never a ftf/fte. Worst, everything by Remington. Winchester is hit and miss and Federal often has feeding issues when used in my semis.

I generally shoot SK Standard+ in my Mark II - consistently accurate without breaking the bank (and readily available near me).

I avoid Winchester like the Plague.

I got a whole bunch of Remington thunderbolts, I've had a couple failure to feeds but that was only with breaking in a new magazine, other mags (and now this new one after break in) has run perfectly I can't think of one failure to feed or fire :)

I bought a remington bucket O bullets, golden bullets. 1400 rounds for $80 is. Been running them threw the wifes Marlin 795. We have probably went threw 700 of them with out a single stopage.

Winchester Power Point - XLRPP on the box - best hollow point I've seen! Dynapoints worked well but the hollowpoint is more like a dimple.

Worst crap bar-none - Rem THUNDERBOLTS. Has never been good in any of my .22's...

Well that's because of the superior quality of the 795, it's not a jam-o-matic like the 10-22

So what 22LR ammo is your favorite, and why?

And what 22LR have you had bad luck with?? Missfires? Light strikes? Failure to fully cycle a semi?

All of my bolt guns shoot CCI Standard Velocity really well, nearly nearly as well as the club grades of the big names like Eley and SK Standard Plus but at half the cost.
