Whats your favorite .40 handgun

You didn't really say what you want to use it for. I am not a great 40 expert but in general the 40 has significant recoil. Personally unless you are recoil tolerant I would stay away from the modern plastic guns.

I think you are wrong... my USP40 has manageable recoil for a plastic gun and I got rid of my CZ97 .45 because I didn't like the recoil. Felt so top heavy and unbalanced to me.

My P226 ST (steel frame, 42 oz gun) on the right here. Light recoil. I think it has over 600 rounds through it and feels tighter still than my MK25 does with about 200 through it.

I shot a base 226 in .40 and it's recoil was manageable. Unsure what the 'bore axis' thing everyone is talking about but Sig's fit me like a glove. SS 226's are even better due to the added weight.

I'm on my third .40 and the Tanfoglio Limited Custom Xtreme I just got is very much the best I've had. My previous two were a SIG X-Five and then I had a P-226. A lot depends on what you want it for. Mine is my IPSC Standard gun. I like everything about it.

Works great in 9 but probably significant muzzle flip in 40.
It's actually quite manageable. Here's a quick video of mine from a couple of weeks ago comparing .357 SIG (also a fairly snappy cartridge) and .40 S&W out of the same SIG. I'm certainly not the most muscle-bound guy around (not by a long shot :)! ) but I didn't find it bad at all.

The M&P is a prime choice for the money. Have no experience with the glocks in .40 though... yet.

I've tried both in .40 and my preference leans toward the M&P. (which I own) I just find it a lot better feeling in the hand and seem to have a bit more control under recoil. Plus the Glock bit my big ass thumb....kinda turned me off. I haven't tried the new generation Glocks yet though. That one was police issue (standard capacity mag, yay!) and wasn't current production, the new ones have an adjustable backstrap that might help with monster hands.

M&P 40 is an awesome shooter. G22 is also fun. I caught the .45 bug, and bought 2 1911's and an SR45 in The last 3 months.
I might have to even out my 9mm's and .40 collection now.
