I use BLC(2) for my plinking loads, it meters well and performance is quite good (velocity and precision). Being a double base ball powder, it is temperature sensitive, so if it's really warm or really cold you will notice a significant velocity change, and this might be enough to seriously impact how well your rifle shoots the load you developed. For 55gr FMJ bulk bullets, I wouldn't be concerned about this. For precision loads, I prefer Varget. I have also had very good results with H4895. These are both single base stick powders (if memory serves me correctly), are much more temperature stable and are part of the Hodgdon Extreme powder series.
