Well, since the OP did say he was looking for a balance of quality and price, and not looking for target loads..
I wouldn't recommend Federal American Eagle. Even my Ruger MK2 had stovepipes and fail-to-fire with it. Almost as bad as Winchester Wildcat.
When you can hear the difference from shot to shot, it's a sure sign that Quality is Not Job One. Unlike Ford, of course
Blazer will very probably cycle your semi auto rifle quite reliably, and at $40-$45 per brick it's not overly expensive. Accuracy is about what you'd expect from inexpensive HV ammo. It's made by CCI. I used it in my Marlin M60 with zero issues in hundreds of rounds. Same with the MK2.
CCI Mini Mags are about the same, reliable and reasonably accurate for an HV ammo at that price point.
CCI Standard Velocity is a step up, both in quality and price. Good chance your rifle will cycle with it, accuracy can be good. Plan on $10 for 100 rds.
Incidentally, there's a neat trick for transferring any ammo that comes in a cardboard box with plastic separator insert to the 100 rd CCI sliding top plastic boxes.
All you need is steady hands. Shaky hands need not apply!
SK Magazine comes in a 500 rd plastic jar, good reliable ammo but the price goes up again to about $60 for 500.
Beyond that and you're into entry level target ammo, like SK Standard Plus, Eley Sport, etc. Plan on $7-8 for a box of 50 for "training" ammo.
Then it's all the way up to $30 per box or more for Eley Tenex and some of the top end Lapua and RWS match ammo offerings.
What did you get for a rifle, OP?
